Alien: Isolation 2 Debut Trailer Has New Hero, Familiar Xenomorph

Okay, so news about Alien: Isolation 2 has been pretty scarce, which makes sense since it sounds like they’re still early in development. But then Summer Game Fest happened and BAM! We got a new trailer. It showed off the planet the game takes place on, some of the surrounding stations, and, most importantly, a Xenomorph! I’m already hyped!

While there’s no confirmed release date yet, a sequel to Alien: Isolation is planned for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

Alien: Isolation 2‘s First Real Trailer Contains Only Glimpses

The trailer begins with a character speaking in Japanese, warning the player they’ve made a costly error – one the “company” doesn’t often overlook. It seems this is their final opportunity. While the trailer doesn’t reveal much about the story, the scene of wreckage suggests a crash or explosion has occurred. According to the game’s Steam page, a team surveying the area discovered the crashed ship, and one member went to investigate. The trailer depicts a rainy planet, identified by Creative Assembly as Kurosaki Station, a Weyland-Yutani outpost. Quick flashes then show a cut-in-half android, a flamethrower, a flare, a Xenomorph, and a close-up of a pair of eyes.

These eyes probably belong to the new main character. Although Creative Assembly isn’t revealing their identity, it’s not Amanda Ripley, who starred in the first game and is the daughter of Ellen Ripley. It’s unclear how this new game will connect to the previous one, which ended with an unresolved cliffhanger. Creative Assembly promises players will face harsh environmental challenges and need to be resourceful, creating new tools and strategies to survive in this intense horror experience.

Al Hope, the creative director, didn’t share specifics, but he did talk about how the team was feeling and gave a preview of future plans.

Hope announced that after more than ten years, the team is finally revealing the first look at the sequel to Alien: Isolation. The dedicated Survival team at Creative Assembly has been diligently working to build on the original game, creating a new Isolation experience that honors the Alien franchise. This sequel features a more intelligent Alien, a more dangerous environment, and even lower chances of survival.

It took Sega a while to start working on a sequel to their popular game. The first game, released in 2014, gained a dedicated following thanks to its exciting and faithful recreation of the 1979 film. However, it didn’t perform as well financially as Sega hoped, with the studio director noting in 2015 that just breaking even wasn’t good enough. Although a mobile game was released in 2019, fans continued to ask for a full sequel, which Sega finally confirmed in 2024 – on the 10th anniversary of the original game. They then released a brief teaser trailer on April 26th, known as Alien Day.
