Square Enix showed off the third installment of their Final Fantasy VII remake project, titled Final Fantasy VII: Revelation, during the opening of Summer Game Fest.
Revelation will conclude the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, bringing the story to its original ending as seen in the classic Final Fantasy VII.
So, what’s this game all about? Read on for everything you need to know about Final Fantasy VII: Revelation!
When is the Final Fantasy VII: Revelation release date?
Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy VII: Revelation will be released in the spring of 2027.
So, the devs are saying we can expect the game to drop sometime in Spring 2027, and I’m guessing that means April or May. Thinking about it, the first Final Fantasy 7 Remake also came out in April, so that month feels like a pretty good bet to me.
Okay, so they’ve given us a pretty clear timeframe for when we can expect the new game, which is great! It gives me enough time to jump back into the first two games and get ready for it – as long as I don’t put it off too long, of course!
The game will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 all at the same time.

What to expect from Final Fantasy VII: Revelation
According to director Naoki Hamaguchi, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth (FF7 Revelation) will focus on the theme of ‘resolve.’ Cloud and his friends will face their personal beliefs as they continue on their path toward the climactic battle that will decide the planet’s future.
This experience brings everything – all the stories and feelings built up throughout the series – to a perfectly satisfying conclusion as the final chapter.
The game’s story follows Cloud Strife and his friends as they struggle to save a world facing total destruction, according to an official announcement.
After losing a close friend, and with their enemy Sephiroth gaining immense power, the group sets off on the airship Highwind. They’re in a desperate hurry to prevent Meteor – a devastating magical attack – from destroying the world.
The newest trailer revealed exciting gameplay features, including a vast open world where you can skydive from the Highwind and land anywhere. Players will also be able to customize their characters with different outfits, called FITS, which provide special bonuses. Finally, the trailer showed off massive, Kaiju-like enemies that players will have to battle.
