LEGO has stayed popular for so long because it appeals to all kinds of interests. Whether you’re into Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, or real-world landmarks, there’s a LEGO set for you. Fans of famous places can even build iconic cities and buildings with the LEGO Architecture line, which features sets of New York, Paris, London, and more. And now, a brand new set is coming that promises to be a game-changer for LEGO collectors.
The LEGO blog, Jay’s Brick Blog, recently shared information about a new Sagrada Família set that will be released on November 1st. The set is a detailed replica of the famous Barcelona church, which took over 140 years to complete – construction began in 1882 and finished this year, though some finishing touches are still planned until 2034. Designed for adults (18+), this impressive LEGO set contains 12,060 pieces and will retail for $799.99.
LEGO’s Sagrada Família Set Breaks A Notable Record

Twelve thousand and sixty LEGO bricks is a huge number, and it represents a new record: the Sagrada Família set is now the largest LEGO set ever created. It surpasses the previous record holder, the World Map set, which contained 11,695 pieces. Since the World Map set is no longer in production, Sagrada Família is currently LEGO’s biggest set in five years. LEGO seems to be consistently increasing the size of its sets, as evidenced by the Minas Tirith set, the largest Lord of the Rings model with 8,278 pieces.
As you’d expect from LEGO, the Sagrada Família model is incredibly detailed and accurate. It features all the key elements of the real basilica, including its 18 towers, three ornate facades, and a detailed interior that resembles a forest. LEGO consistently goes above and beyond with its complex sets, and this one is no different. It’s a fantastic addition to the Architecture series and offers a rewarding, challenging build for LEGO enthusiasts and experienced builders alike.
The Sagrada Família LEGO set is by far the biggest in the Architecture series, significantly larger than the other sets. For example, the New York City set has 1,465 pieces, while even other large builds like Notre Dame (4,383 pieces) and Neuschwanstein Castle (3,455 pieces) are much smaller. Many Architecture sets only contain a few hundred pieces, making the Sagrada Família a real standout. Considering how beautiful the real building is, it makes sense that LEGO created such a detailed and unique set.
It will be fascinating to see how long the Sagrada Família LEGO set keeps its record as the largest ever. Creating a model with more than 12,060 pieces feels almost impossible. While LEGO is known for highly detailed sets, there’s a natural limit to their size. LEGO is definitely pushing boundaries with new products, but the Sagrada Família might well hold the record for a long time. It took five years for someone to beat the previous record held by the World Map, so it’s a significant achievement.
