New characters have been announced for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, confirming what some fans predicted and proving other rumors wrong. This new team is full of surprises, featuring several well-known villains from Marvel Comics. While players expected at least one villain to be included, the number of antagonists joining the game roster was unexpected.
I was so hyped when the last team for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls was revealed – the Fighting Avengers! We already knew Iron Man and Captain America were in the game, but seeing Black Panther and Hulk join them was awesome. Captain America led this team, but the trailer ended with a little tease that made us all think more characters were coming. Everyone started digging for clues and Easter eggs, and most of us guessed the next leader would be Doctor Doom. Turns out we were right! Sony officially confirmed it at their June 2026 State of Play, and I couldn’t have been more excited.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls Shows The Knights Of Doom Team With Magneto, Green Goblin, & Carnage

The newest team, the Knights of Doom, has been revealed. Before the announcement, only their leader, Doctor Doom, was known as a playable character. Along with a first look at The Champion – who might be the main villain in Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls – we now know Doctor Doom’s team also includes:
- Doctor Doom
- Magneto
- Green Goblin
- Carnage
Fans have been eagerly requesting new characters, especially Magneto, who has a strong history in Marvel fighting games. He’s back thanks to an agreement with Doctor Doom, and he uses his magnetic abilities to attack opponents with various metal objects. The Green Goblin was also revealed, along with a new nighttime version of an existing New York stage.
The Green Goblin is a fast and agile fighter who attacks from the air using his glider. As the unpredictable Norman Osborn, he relies on a unique arsenal of pumpkin bombs and razor bats, making him a difficult opponent. Meanwhile, Carnage brings brutal force to the battle, spreading his symbiote to overwhelm defenses. His relentless attacks with blades and tendrils make him a formidable asset to any team.
Every Past Theory From Previous Trailers Were Proven True Instead Of Only One

Before the Knights of Doom were officially revealed, a mysterious image at the end of the Fighting Avengers trailer sparked a lot of debate. The image was bathed in green light and featured the number “361” next to Spider-Man’s eyes, which appeared scratched out. Many fans thought this meant Green Goblin would be included in the game, pointing to the green color. However, others believed it hinted at Carnage, because “361” is a reference to The Amazing Spider-Man #361, the comic book where Carnage first appeared.
It wasn’t surprising that not every fan theory turned out to be true. Some people even joked that the image’s green color hinted at Doctor Doom. While many thought the clues pointing to Carnage were the most likely, because they matched the vandalized Spider-Man image, the idea of both Carnage and Doctor Doom being included seemed like a stretch for most players. Previously, there were leaks suggesting Magneto might appear in Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, but fans believed he’d probably be added as downloadable content later on.
Some Villains On Doctor Doom’s Team Have Never Been In A Fighting Game Before

It might seem unexpected to see Magneto fighting alongside Doctor Doom, considering their usual roles in Marvel comics. However, Magneto has appeared as a playable character in fighting games before – he’s famous for his appearances in the Marvel vs. Capcom series, and even showed up in Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. Meanwhile, Carnage and Green Goblin are finally making their fighting game debut in this new title, something fans have requested for years.
Fans were excited about the possibility of Carnage and Green Goblin joining the roster of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, especially after the game revealed its team structure. Venom, Carnage’s symbiote partner, has appeared in several previous Marvel fighting games, making Carnage’s absence somewhat surprising. Similarly, Green Goblin and other Spider-Man villains haven’t been featured much in fighting games – Green Goblin only made a quick appearance as part of Spider-Man’s super move in Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite.
As a fan, I’m so excited to finally see these characters in a fighting game! It’s amazing discovering all the little details and unique ways to play as each one. They’ve really shaken things up with Magneto too, and honestly, a lot of these Marvel characters feel fresh compared to how they played in Marvel vs. Capcom. With only three characters left to announce, the Knights of Doom are a fantastic addition to the base roster and everyone seems to be loving them!
