Is This What LEGO’s KPop Demon Hunters First Set Will Look Like?

Even though the next installment of KPop Demon Hunters isn’t due until 2029, fans have plenty to enjoy in the coming years. This year alone will bring three new KPop Demon Hunters releases, and collectible Kayou trading cards are now available. Plus, LEGO is about to unveil its first KPop Demon Hunters sets, with several planned for release by 2027. While there’s even more on the way, many fans are especially excited about the LEGO collaboration. Unfortunately, we’ve only seen a quick preview of the first set so far, but a possible sneak peek may already be circulating online.

Back in February, LEGO gave a sneak peek of a new set featuring Derpy the cat – just a glimpse of his paw and a flower pot! Rumors quickly spread that the set would include Derpy and his bird friend, Sussie. LEGO promised a reveal in Spring 2026, but that date has passed, which is unusual for them. Licensing agreements can be complicated, though. We might already have a good idea of what the set will look like, thanks to a LEGO Ideas project that’s been under review since summer 2025. Another similar project reached the required number of supporters but was officially turned down by LEGO. Here’s a look at the Derpy set currently under review:

The LEGO Ideas Derpy Set Could Reveal What the Official Set Will Look Like

Several things stand out when looking at this design. First, it perfectly captures the look of the animated characters, especially Derpy. The face is built in a way that’s very similar to LEGO’s Creator Playful Cat set, sharing the same snout design. While the legs will be different – the teaser showed they’ll have moving ankles instead of solid blocks – the overall build is a better match for the movie version than the Truman set. Derpy’s wider chest wouldn’t work with the Playful Cat design. The tail is creative, but LEGO usually makes cat tails using unique pieces. Finally, it seems highly probable that the set will include the tongue with the message to Rumi, just like the original.

There are two KPop Demon Hunter sets proposed for LEGO Ideas. The first, created by Truman Brickz and featuring characters named Derpy and Sussie, was submitted on July 16, 2025, and reached 10,000 supporters in November. LEGO will review it starting in January 2026. A second, similar Derpy set, with a design inspired by Chinese dragon dances, was submitted just two days later on July 18th and quickly gained 10,000 supporters by August, undergoing review in September. However, that second set was officially rejected after seven months – the same amount of time that has now passed for Truman Brickz’s set without any announcement. Because of this, it’s likely Truman’s set will also be rejected, though the final approved design may be similar to this one. Sadly, it seems unlikely we’ll see this exact set become an official LEGO product.
