Crunchyroll’s Acclaimed Fantasy Creator Confirms New Release Ahead of Season 2

Good news for fans of Yona of the Dawn! New side stories are appearing in the latest issue of Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume magazine. The original manga, which concluded its run in December 2025 after 16 years, has also been confirmed to receive both an anime sequel and these follow-up stories. These side stories will be collected in Volume 48 of the manga, though a release date hasn’t been announced yet. Hana to Yume magazine confirmed the return on X (formerly Twitter), stating that multiple chapters will be included. While the exact number isn’t known, it’s likely to be around three or four chapters, as Volume 48 will also contain two chapters of the main story.

Kusanagi Mizuho announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the third part of the side story is now available, and that it will be the last. This popular series, which concluded its main storyline less than a year ago, is wrapping up with these four extra chapters. With a second season of the anime already planned, fans might get a first glimpse of it later this year. In addition to the 47th volume of the manga, a fanbook was also released, offering character details and answers to questions from readers by Mizuho herself.

What to Expect From Yona of the Dawn’s Anime Sequel

The first season ends with Yona, Hak, and Yoon having found all the Dragon Warriors. While Yona is still figuring out what to do next, Zeno’s questions push her to start making plans. The second season will follow their travels as they work to revive the Kouka Kingdom, which has been struggling since the previous king’s rule. They’ll journey throughout the kingdom and beyond, exposing the hidden corruption and crime they find along the way.

The new season will focus on revealing the real meaning behind the prophecy and the legend of Iksoo, the oracle. So far, the anime has only announced a continuation without showing any trailers or teasers, so a release date hasn’t been set. Although there haven’t been any recent updates, we anticipate learning more details later this year.

You can now watch the first season of the anime on Crunchyroll. If you prefer reading, the first 45 volumes of the manga are available to purchase digitally and physically from Viz Media. Plus, a special 64-page artbook will be released alongside Volume 47. The series will conclude with Volume 48, which will be a shorter release featuring two chapters and an extra story, though a release date for the final volume hasn’t been announced yet.
