PS5 Store’s Shovelware Purge Is Getting More Interesting by the Week

Increasingly, games are being removed from the PlayStation Store, and some publishers are proactively taking down their titles before Sony does.

Late last week, Xeneder Team announced on social media that they’ve made the very difficult choice to remove a large number of items from their available products.

Later updates hinted at continued PlayStation 5 development, but this recent move suggests the company fears being penalized in Sony’s crackdown on low-quality games.

Its catalogue includes a slew of cheap and cheerful games with easy Platinum Trophies.

Delisted Games has announced that Xitilon Games’ titles are being removed from the PlayStation Store. The company has released more than 200 games, many of which are language learning apps, and are known for having Platinum Trophies that are simple to earn.

I admit, I purchased and finished the Learn Basic Mandarin course just for fun, hoping it would help me practice. Surprisingly, I earned all the achievements in under 15 minutes!

This is happening a lot now, as Sony has likely removed tens of thousands of games at this point.

It looks like these actions are worrying publishers, and they’re now proactively taking their games down to avoid being banned.

There’s still work to be done, but it’s obvious Sony is serious about improving the PlayStation Store and making it a better experience for users.
