Saw: Genesis release date speculation and what to expect

It’s been a while since a new Saw movie came out, and even longer since we’ve seen a really good one. Now, three studios – Bloober Team, Broken Mirror Games, and Anshar Studios – are aiming to deliver just that.

Saw: Genesis, revealed at Summer Game Fest 2026, is a multiplayer game where one player acts as the Judge, creating deadly challenges within a maze of traps. Three other players must work together to survive and outsmart the Judge.

Here is a breakdown of what we know the game and when you may see Saw: Genesis released.

Saw: Genesis release date speculation

Currently, there’s no official release date or even a timeframe for Genesis. This likely means it won’t be available in 2026, and may instead launch in 2027. It’s difficult to estimate the game’s progress, particularly since it will be released as an early access title.

The first trailer for the game showed it’s still early in development and needs more work, so it will likely be a while before Saw: Genesis is released.

Saw: Genesis – what to expect

In Genesis, the game takes place after World War I. You can play as either a Judge or one of the Accused, trying to survive. As the Accused, you’ll work with your team to escape a dangerous, ever-changing maze. If you’re the Judge, you’ll control the fate of those trying to escape.

The Judge, a veteran of war and skilled with traps, was one of the first people to help develop Jigsaw’s way of thinking.

Players can tailor how they tackle each challenge by choosing perks. Although the Judge is strong, they can’t automatically win against the Accused. Success depends on smart tactics and special skills, such as using hidden passages or sound-mapping tools, to defeat the Accused.

If you’re the one being hunted, the Judge wants to brutally reform you. As part of a team, you’ll need to work together to finish objectives, find useful items, and grab keys before the timer runs out. Because the levels change with each playthrough, and plans often need to be adjusted on the fly, you’ll have to be flexible and adapt to survive.
