This year marks Sonic the Hedgehog’s 35th anniversary, and Sega is celebrating with a new game: Sonic Pico Park. Developed by TECOPARK in collaboration with Sega, this game is the newest addition to the Pico Park series and offers a fresh adventure for both Sonic and players.
Pico Park is a fun series of puzzle games designed for teamwork. Usually played with 2 to 8 people, the goal is to cooperate and complete each level. It’s not a game you can beat on your own, and success relies on everyone contributing – though there’s a funny exception in Sonic Pico Park where Tails actually carries the whole team for a bit!

I recently got into Sonic Pico Park, and it’s a blast! It’s a 2D puzzle game where you and up to seven friends try to beat each level. It seems simple at first, but things quickly get tricky. We’re talking needing to jump on top of each other in a certain order, or even being linked together so if one person messes up, everyone goes flying! It really makes you think and work together to figure out how to solve each puzzle.
This game is surprisingly simple, but that simplicity can quickly lead to frustration, especially depending on who you’re playing with. Expect a rollercoaster of emotions – arguments, laughter, and maybe even tears! We played with a team of four, and luckily, one of us understood the rules, which helped. I shudder to think how chaotic it would be with eight random players, particularly if alcohol is involved. It has the potential to become total mayhem.

Okay, I’ll admit, when I first heard about this indie Sonic game, I was pretty doubtful. But honestly? After playing it, I’m totally grabbing a copy for myself and my friends. We were streaming a playthrough and had a bunch of people watching, and I was seriously cracking up – like, almost crying with laughter! It’s just a really good time.
