Actor Wyatt Russell believes he has the answer: just one word of advice.

At the premiere of Disclosure Day, Russell spoke with Screen Rant about his hopes for the upcoming film Doomsday. He encouraged viewers to approach the movie with an open mind, suggesting they put aside any negative expectations formed from online discussions. He explained that after seven years of anticipation, people should simply relax and enjoy the experience, rather than dwelling on past criticisms. Russell believes constantly analyzing a film before seeing it prevents genuine enjoyment and ultimately leads to disappointment. He urged fans to forget the years of online debate and just have fun with the movie.

Can Avengers: Doomsday Live Up to Fan Expectations?

We appreciate Russell’s thoughts. Ultimately, the most important thing is whether audiences enjoy watching Doomsday. If they do, it will greatly help the film achieve the fresh start Marvel is hoping for. Good reviews and enthusiastic fans will lead to a successful and extended run in theaters, with people wanting to see it multiple times – similar to what happened with Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. It’s also understandable that there’s been a lot of discussion about how Doomsday fits into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. The interconnectedness of the MCU has always been a key part of its appeal, and fans love seeing how different storylines connect. No Avengers movie happens in isolation.

A major reason Infinity War and Endgame were so successful is that they felt like a satisfying conclusion to a long, complex story. They didn’t just deliver the big Thanos battle that fans had been waiting for; they also wrapped up storylines and character developments that had been building for years across multiple movies. Plus, most of the films leading up to those events were already popular and well-liked. By the time Infinity War arrived, the Marvel Cinematic Universe had become a dominant force in filmmaking, and audiences were excited and eager to enjoy the experience, trusting that Marvel would deliver.

I have to admit, Doomsday isn’t quite hitting the mark for me as the grand finale I’d hoped for. Marvel’s had some misses lately, and it’s a little disappointing because some of the movies meant to build up to this – like Captain America: Brave New World – didn’t quite connect with audiences. Honestly, it feels like it’s been ages since we’ve seen certain heroes, like Shang-Chi, and it’s hard to feel as deeply invested in their stories compared to the original Avengers. That’s a real challenge for Doomsday, and I’m hoping it can overcome it.

I’ve heard that the team behind Doomsday knew they couldn’t outdo Infinity War and Endgame, so they focused on making Doomsday the best it could be – a really epic experience. I’m hoping directors Joe and Anthony Russo achieved what they were aiming for. The trailer they showed at CinemaCon got a great reaction, which is a good sign! Hopefully, when Doomsday comes out in December, we can all just enjoy it for what it is.
