Players are getting a first glimpse of the upcoming expansion for Star Wars: Unlimited, and the initial reveals from Ashes of the Empire are incredibly impressive. The new set focuses on the Battle of Endor and what happened afterward, bringing some of the most famous scenes from Star Wars to life in this popular card game.
Ashes of the Empire Gives Star Wars: Unlimited a Major Upgrade
The upcoming expansion, Ashes of the Empire, will add a large number of new cards to Star Wars: Unlimited. It introduces Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader as new playable leaders, with unique versions called “According to My Design” and “Meet Your Destiny” respectively. Players can expect over 260 new cards in total when the expansion releases next month.
The upcoming Ashes of the Empire set introduces new gameplay elements, starting with Advantage Tokens. These replace Experience Tokens and give units a short-term boost during attacks or defense. Emperor Palpatine โ According to My Design is particularly effective with this, as he can quickly apply multiple Advantage Tokens to a single unit, though the effect doesn’t last forever.
In Star Wars: Unlimited, a new keyword called Support will be introduced. Cards like Leia Organa โ Vigilant for Danger will feature this keyword, allowing players to temporarily give another unit in play an ability when the Support unit enters the battlefield during an attack.

The next release of Spotlight Decks alongside Ashes of the Empire will feature two new decks. One will be led by Emperor Palpatine, and the other by Luke Skywalker. Luke’s deck is specifically designed to protect your units by removing damage, as announced by the official Ashes of the Empire announcement.
Luke is a leader focused on healing. As a Vigilance and Heroism leader, he excels at restoring health to both your units and your base. This consistent healing allows for unique strategies where you can strategically sacrifice unit health, and his starting deck is built to support that approach.
