22 Jump Street sequel is in the works with Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill and Ice Cube all tipped to return

Another 21 Jump Street movie is being planned, and Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, and Ice Cube are all likely to reprise their roles.

According to Variety, the next installment in the Jump Street series will be called 24 Jump Street. Rodney Rothman, who directed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, will direct the film, working from a script he co-wrote with Jonah Hill and Meghan Malloy.

Meanwhile, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller โ€“ who directed both of those first two instalments โ€“ will be back on board in a producer capacity.

This new movie continues the story from the 2012 film 21 Jump Street and its 2014 sequel, 22 Jump Street. Both of those films were originally based on the popular 1980s television show of the same name.

Those films introduced us to underachieving cops Morton Schmidt (Hill) and Greg Jenko (Tatum), who were assigned by their superior Captain Dickson (Ice Cube) to go undercover at a local high school in order to bust a drugs ring, with the sequel seeing them graduate to another operation at a college.

In the 12 years since that second film, there have been several discussions about a third film, with one script having been written for a planned 23 Jump Street that was later scrapped.

Instead, they are jumping straight ahead to 24 Jump Street โ€“ a joke that seems likely to be further explained in the film itself. When we hear any more plot details, we’ll let you know.
