Iconic former EastEnders star in exclusive first look at return to cult British crime franchise

Craig Fairbrass is back and ready for action as he returns as gangster Pat Tate in the new Rise of the Footsoldier movie.

Rise of the Footsoldier: Retribution continues the story right after the events of Rise of the Footsoldier: Vengeance (2023). The film follows Tate, played by Terry Fairbrass, as he seeks revenge for the murder of a close friend.

Jetting off to Ibiza, it doesn’t take Tate long to find himself in trouble with a group of mercenaries running an arms trafficking operation – and the CIA agents who are keeping an eye on them.

In an exclusive first-look clip of the upcoming film, Tate is seen sauntering through a nightclub to track someone down.

As the party rages around him, he comes across a man in a booth, but he’s also drawn the attention of several interested parties who are watching what he’s up to.

He quickly pulled out his gun right in the middle of the crowded club – a sure way to attract attention – just as the video ended.

The movie follows Tate, a ruthless operative who doesn’t hesitate to eliminate anyone standing in his way. However, when his actions threaten the plans of other powerful figures, he quickly becomes the one being hunted.

Will he be able to make it out alive?

Joining former EastEnders star Fairbrass in the upcoming film is a string of on-screen hardmen – including The Football Factory’s Tamer Hassan and Green Street’s Leo Gregory, who will be playing the mercenaries Tate gets entangled with.

Vincent Regan and Ross McCall have joined the cast as CIA agents determined to stop the illegal arms trade. Also, Vanessa Bauer, known from Dancing on Ice, will be appearing in her first acting role.

The film, which is set in the ’90s, is the seventh instalment in this British crime franchise, with Nick Nevern (director and co-writer) and Andrew Loveday (producer & co-writer) promising to make it the wildest yet.

“There was never a master plan to build Footsoldier into a franchise, but the support of our audience has made it possible,” they said.

We’re thrilled to see a new generation discovering our work! We’ve heard from many young fans who say their dads were the ones who first introduced them to the franchise.

“Footsoldier: Retribution is definitely the biggest Footsoldier film to date. We hope the audience will have as much fun watching this film as we had making it.”

Rise of the Footsoldier: Retribution is out in cinemas on 28 August.
