How to watch Doctor Who in the UK and US

There’s been a lot happening with Doctor Who recently. The show is undergoing a bidding process for its future production, the planned Christmas special has been removed from the schedule, and viewers in the US now have a new place to stream the first thirteen seasons.

But, of course, love for our favourite Time Lord and their blue box continues!

Good news for Doctor Who fans: most of the show’s older episodes are available to watch online. However, a few are missing, including the very first story and some adventures featuring the Fourth Doctor, Tom Baker.

Since we’re waiting a while for the next season of Doctor Who, now’s a great time to revisit some old episodes!

Here’s how you can stream every season of Doctor Who online in the UK and internationally.

How to watch Doctor Who in the US

Watching shows in the US is a little trickier because each season is often split across various streaming platforms.

In the United States, you can watch classic Doctor Who for free on Tubi. If you have a BritBox subscription, it’s available there as well.

As of 11 June 2026, modern Doctor Who (seasons 1-13) are available to stream on AMC+.

Meanwhile, seasons 14-15 remain available on Disney+.

How to watch The War Between the Land and the Sea in the US

The documentary ‘The War Between the Land and the Sea’ isn’t currently available on Disney+, and we don’t have any information about when it might be.

Currently, the only way to watch “The War Between the Land and the Sea” in the United States is to purchase a physical copy, like a Blu-ray, which you can find on Amazon.

How to watch Doctor Who’s first serial, A Unearthly Child

The very first Doctor Who story, ‘An Unearthly Child,’ isn’t currently available to watch on BBC iPlayer because of a rights problem, as of October 2023.

You can find out more about how to watch An Unearthly Child right here.

As a longtime fan, I’m thrilled to say you can now stream Doctor Who on BBC iPlayer. But that’s not all – I’ve also been digging into a fantastic resource for Whovians. It’s a complete story guide, covering every episode since the very beginning in 1963! Beyond just reviews, it’s packed with details on the cast and crew, behind-the-scenes trivia, and even some exclusive material pulled from the TopMob archive. If you’re a fan, or curious about getting into the show, this guide is a must-see.
