Kingdom Hearts fans have been eagerly anticipating news about the fourth game for years, and it seems a release date might be closer than expected.

Man, they announced this game way back in 2022 and then… nothing. Total radio silence from Square Enix. But thankfully, that’s finally changed – we’re starting to hear something again!

The latest Nintendo Direct in June 2026 gave us a few new details, though many things are still unknown.

Here’s a rundown of everything we currently know about Kingdom Hearts 4, including potential release dates and which gaming systems it might be available on.

When is the Kingdom Hearts 4 release date?

At the time of writing, there is no confirmed release date for Kingdom Hearts 4.

Since Nintendo recently showed the game in their June 2026 presentation, we believe it might release as early as 2027.

Although not officially announced, several stores like EB Games and JB may have mistakenly revealed a release date of 2027.

The recently taken-down product page for the Kingdom Hearts Collection (covering games 1, 2, and 3) mentioned that players could experience the entire series as a complete package before Kingdom Hearts 4 comes out in 2027.

While there’s no official confirmation yet, the new gameplay trailer and some leaked information suggest Kingdom Hearts 4 might actually release in 2027. We’re starting to feel pretty good about that possibility!

What platforms is Kingdom Hearts 4 on?

Kingdom Hearts 4 will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.

Square Enix announced in June 2026 that the game will be available on all major platforms, ensuring fans can play it on their preferred system right when it launches.

The game will be released on PC through both Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Can I pre-order Kingdom Hearts 4?

Pre-orders are currently not open for Kingdom Hearts 4.

Considering the game doesn’t even have a release date yet, this isn’t too surprising.

Kingdom Hearts 4 story details

Kingdom Hearts 4 marks the beginning of a new story arc called The Lost Master Arc, picking up after the events of the previous games’ storyline, The Dark Seeker Saga.

Tetsuya Nomura, the director, has stated that the next game will offer a fresh start, making it easier for newcomers to the series to understand the story without needing prior knowledge of previous titles.

We don’t have many details about the story yet, except that it’s set in Quadratum – a unique world inspired by the Shibuya area of Tokyo, and one that exists between light and darkness.

Is there a Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer?

The first trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4 was revealed in 2022 as part of the celebration of the series’ 20th anniversary.
