Godzilla is having a major moment! This year has been huge for the iconic monster. Apple TV+’s second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters thrilled fans of the MonsterVerse, and now Toho is gearing up to release Godzilla Minus Zero, a new film continuing the recent successful direction for the character. A brand new trailer showcases Godzilla alongside Mechagodzilla, hinting at an intense and action-packed story directed by Takashi Yamazaki.
I’m so excited about Godzilla The Ride: The Great Clash! It’s a super cool amusement park ride, but you can only find it at Seibuen Amusement Park in Japan. What makes this one really special is that Takashi Yamazaki – the director of the amazing Godzilla Minus One – actually wrote the story for it! It’s been running for over a year now, and they just dropped another trailer. This time, it’s showing off an all-new version of Mechagodzilla. Now, if you saw Minus One, you know Mechagodzilla didn’t show up in that film, but this ride could hint at its return in this new take on the Godzilla universe! I’ve included a link to the trailer below – definitely worth checking out!
A Godzilla For a New Age
I was so excited to hear Yamazaki talk about how Godzilla The Ride: The Great Clash came to be! He’s a huge fan just like me, and he said he can’t wait to experience it as a rider. He was really buzzing about what kind of monsters we’ll face and where the ride will take us. Honestly, as a fellow ride enthusiast, I’m right there with him! He and his team are working incredibly hard to make this the scariest, most thrilling ride ever, and I can’t wait to be one of the first to try it!
The most recent appearance of Mechagodzilla was in Legendary’s Godzilla vs. Kong, where it battled both Godzilla and Kong. In this version, the robotic monster was built by Apex, a group that combined technology with the remains of King Ghidorah. Thankfully, Godzilla and Kong teamed up to defeat it, and Mechagodzilla hasn’t been seen in the MonsterVerse since.
It’s still unclear if Mechagodzilla will appear in the upcoming Godzilla film, set in the same universe as Minus One. While Godzilla Minus Zero features a significantly larger and more dangerous Godzilla, trailers haven’t shown any other monsters joining the fight. Although no new kaiju have been officially confirmed for the Minus One sequel, the first trailer revealed that Godzilla will be heading to the United States, setting the stage for a new and exciting conflict between the monster and humanity.
