EA Is Shutting Down Online Services for This Forgotten PS5, PS4 Racing Game

GRID Legends, a solid racing game from Codemasters, will soon have its online services shut down.

EA launched this racing game in 2022, but its online services will be discontinued on September 11th, 2026.

Here’s what the publisher says about it on the game’s PS Store page:

Starting September 11, 2026, online features for GRID Legends on this platform will be discontinued. This means you won’t be able to play online with others, participate in multiplayer modes, use Quick Race or Dynamic Events, or access leaderboards. However, you can still enjoy the game’s story mode and race against the AI offline.

In around three months, the online features will be discontinued, but you’ll still be able to play and experience the story offline.

GRID Legends stands out because it includes a story told through live-action video clips, alongside the series’ easy-to-learn driving style and wide variety of cars.

Although it got decent reviews, it didn’t become very popular. It looks like people have also had trouble finding online competitions for it for some time now.

This game was available to PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers in 2023, so you might have already gotten it if you were a member. If not, it’s included with an EA Play subscription and often goes on sale for a significant discount.

It’s sad when online gaming features are discontinued, but it’s likely most GRID Legends players have switched to other racing games by now.
