Clutch is a brand-new racing game in development by a team that includes people who previously worked on the popular Forza Horizon series.
As a racing game fan, I can see echoes of the Xbox racing games I love in Clutch, but what’s really getting people talking is how different it is. It’s those differences that are causing the biggest split among players – some love them, others aren’t so sure!
Here’s a video on the game, with numerous clips of gameplay between the commentary:
Clutch is a story-driven, open-world racing game where you play as a pair of siblings. They’re trying to make their way through the exciting and risky world of both professional and underground racing.
People online are split on whether adding a full storyline to an open-world racing game is a good idea. However, the biggest disagreement seems to be about including tools like the harpoon shown in the recent video.
Here’s another one:
Some race fans are questioning the addition of features like a grappling hook for swinging around turns or flipping opponents’ cars.
Honestly, I love it! So many racing games these days try way too hard to be realistic. If adding goofy stuff like crazy gadgets leads to some genuinely fun and exciting missions, then sign me up – I’m all for it.
It looks like these will only be available when freely exploring the game world and won’t be used during official races, which is fine with me.
Even though the graphics look very realistic, I can see why combining them with this style might bother some viewers.
What are your thoughts on Clutch? Are you enjoying the game’s emphasis on story and features like the grapple hook? Let us know in the comments!
