Sean Reifel is thankful for his Love Island USA experience.
Just days after being the first contestant voted off of Love Island Season 8 – he didn’t find a match during the initial pairing – the 29-year-old spoke out about leaving the show and shared his thoughts on his time in Fiji.
Sean shared on Instagram on June 12th how grateful he is for everyone’s support. He said he really appreciated all the videos and hilarious photos people sent, which brightened up his conversations with friends.
He first seemed to be hitting it off with Beatriz Hatz, but on the June 7th episode, she ended up pairing up with Gabriel Vasconcelos instead.
Sean hadn’t said much about leaving Love Island, but his sister, Brice Marie, frequently spoke up about him while he was on the show.
On June 7th, I learned through a family member that Sean was going to be eliminated or sent home, and I shared this on TikTok.
I still found it really emotional watching the show,” Brice said. “It was tough seeing him so upset, and everyone else crying too. It just really highlighted what a genuinely kind person Sean is – he connected with everyone in the villa.
Sean’s sister believes he will eventually find love. She suggested that focusing on fatherhood might mean he’s simply further along in life compared to the other contestants on the show.

As Brice explained, “It kind of felt like a lot of the girls were in their early- to mid-20s and not quite at that stage in life yet. So, it just made sense that he didn’t find a super close connection there in that way.”
Sean recently gained attention when he left his job as a police officer in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. His decision led the police chief and mayor to comment publicly before the start of the show Love Island.
Bethlehem Mayor J. William Reynolds stated on May 29th, according to WHTM, that the police department invested significant time and taxpayer money – thousands of dollars – in training a now-former officer at the police academy. The mayor expressed disappointment with the officer’s departure, as it creates another difficult-to-fill vacancy within the department, not expected to be resolved until next year.
Reynolds expressed his surprise that simply appearing on a reality TV show could be valued more than serving as a police officer in America.
