The finale of The Boys is sparking debate among fans, but it does successfully conclude the long-running conflict between Homelander and Butcher while giving satisfying conclusions to the other members of The Boys team. While most questions are answered by the final episode, the show leaves a few plot threads open for potential future storylines. Plus, events in the finale strengthen the popular theory about Stormfront and connect with another compelling idea regarding Soldier Boy – both of which seem to be setting up possibilities for Season 5. Warning: Spoilers follow for The Boys Season 5, Episodes 1-8.
Although Season 5 of The Boys primarily wraps up the main storyline, it also dedicates significant time to setting up the upcoming Vought Rising spinoff focusing on Soldier Boy. This spinoff, starring Jensen Ackles, is expected to be popular, especially given its planned release next year and the actor’s memorable performance. The final episodes of The Boys heavily feature Stormfront and her connection to Soldier Boy, hinting at a major role for her in the prequel and strengthening a long-held fan theory about her origins. The season finale further supports this theory, making it even more likely to be true.
The Boys Series Finale Makes Stormfront’s Survival Even More Likely

Stormfront was a powerful enemy in the second season of The Boys, but her time on the show was cut short in Season 3. After a fight with Ryan, she was left severely injured – missing limbs and badly burned – and kept alive at Vought Tower. While we’re told she died by suicide, the scene is shown only through a news report of a body being removed from the building; we never actually see her death. This is unusual for a show known for its graphic depictions of violence, leading many fans to believe Stormfront might still be alive. Hints in Season 5 seem to strengthen that theory.
Soldier Boy doubts Stormfront actually killed herself, and as someone who understands her, his skepticism is understandable. He directly asks Homelander if there was any proof of death, like a body – a classic TV trope suggesting the character might still be alive. Given that Soldier Boy himself survived the series finale (though frozen), fans are even more likely to believe Stormfront could return. Their shared appearance in Vought Rising hints that the show is building a storyline that will continue their story in the spinoff, potentially in the present day.
Vought Rising Will Probably Feature a Future Timeline With Soldier Boy and Stormfront

As a big fan of The Boys, I’ve been following all the news about Vought Rising, and everything points to it being set primarily in the 1950s. But with Soldier Boy still kicking around after Season 5, I think they’re definitely going to weave a modern-day storyline in there too. It just makes sense, especially since they put him back into stasis! Plus, those little clues about Stormfront possibly surviving? That opens up the possibility of them teaming up again, and it feels like the show is already building towards that. I’m really excited to see how they pull it all together.
The world of The Boys is set to grow even bigger with future projects, including a timeline explored in Vought Rising, which Prime Video and Eric Kripke are already developing. The Boys: New Mexico will continue the story after Season 5’s finale, and fans are hoping for resolution for characters from the canceled show Gen V. To move beyond focusing solely on Homelander, the franchise needs new antagonists – Stormfront and Soldier Boy seem like natural choices to fill that role.
Stormfront & Soldier Boy Are the Only Villains Who Could Follow Homelander

As The Boys expands with new shows, it’ll need fresh heroes and villains. Creating relatable underdogs won’t be difficult, but matching the impact of Homelander will be a real challenge. He’s such a powerful and memorable character that it’s hard to imagine the show without him. Any villain capable of commanding attention like Homelander already exists within The Boys universe…and they’re about to take center stage in a new spinoff.
As a huge fan of The Boys, I honestly think Stormfront is scarier than Homelander – her ideology makes her truly terrifying, and she’s quickly becoming just as dangerous. It’s wild to realize she and Soldier Boy both have Compound V1 running through their veins! If she could heal like some of the others, those two would be a seriously unstoppable force, which honestly gives me chills thinking about it. Plus, Jensen Ackles and Chance Perdomo are so good in these roles; they feel like our best bet for finding that same captivating-but-terrifying dynamic we had with Homelander. Season 5 has definitely laid the groundwork, so I’m really hoping to see where the show takes these characters next.
