It looks like everyone is enjoying the new James Bond game! We’ve tallied the votes, and 007 First Light is officially our Game of the Month for May 2026.
IO Interactive’s action-stealth adventure won the poll by a landslide, crushing the competition.
Even though May didn’t have many new game releases, I think First Light would have stood out as a top title regardless. It felt exceptional enough to compete with any game, even if it had launched in a busier month.
Here are the top five PS5 games of May 2026, according to readers of Push Square:
- 007 First Light – 644 votes (63%)
- LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight – 174 votes (17%)
- Mina the Hollower – 88 votes (9%)

007 First Light has quickly become a hit this year, earning high praise from critics and players alike. Its popularity is reflected in strong sales – it’s already sold millions of copies!
Stephen Tailby, who often reviews games from around the world, said that 007 First Light is pretty much what he expected. He rated it an 8 out of 10 and called it ‘great’ in his review for the PlayStation 5.
The game truly excels with its open-ended missions, and it blends these beautifully with its story-driven sections, creating a cinematic experience.

I apologize for the delay in posting the May 2026 Game of the Month poll. A busy schedule filled with summer gaming events kept me from getting it up sooner.
Now that all the hype has died down, let’s take a moment to reflect on May’s PlayStation 5 releases. Which game stood out as the best of the month? Ultimately, it’s up to you to choose!
May wasn’t an incredibly busy month for game releases, but it featured two major titles: 007 First Light and LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. These were complemented by several smaller, well-received games.
Okay, so I’ve been playing a lot lately, and it’s wild how different but amazing both Mixtape and Mina the Hollower are. Critics loved them both, which is cool, but they really don’t play anything alike – totally different vibes and designs overall!
Okay, things weren’t super busy this month, but what did come out was really good! Because of that, I have a feeling the upcoming poll is going to be pretty revealing – I’m excited to see what everyone thinks.
