Alexi Lalas made a shocking pass at James Corden.
During a live broadcast before a World Cup game, a soccer analyst used an inappropriate term to refer to James Corden, the former host of the Late Late Show, while attempting to advertise his program, After Hours with James Corden.
During the June 12th Fox broadcast, Lalas asked his co-hosts Rebecca Lowe, Thierry Henry, and Zlatan Ibrahimović what they called a particular comedian, using the term “a full-kit wr.”
Lalas’ comment appeared accidental, but it clearly surprised the other hosts. He quickly followed up by asking, “He’s all dressed up and ready to go?”
Clearly taken aback, Henry chimed in, “Did he just say that?”
Lowe also mentioned that since the offensive word is better known internationally, she believes Lalas shouldn’t face serious consequences from Fox executives.
She was glad they were appearing on American TV, because using a particular word – what she called the ‘W-word’ – is strictly forbidden on British television.
James Corden was the target of Lala’s joke, but he’s also told jokes that haven’t gone over well with people. He previously caused some controversy with an inappropriate joke involving Judi Dench and Anthony Fauci.
During the 2025 Breakthrough Prize Ceremony, host James Corden joked, ‘Tonight is the night Hollywood and science collide!’ He then playfully added, ‘Except for that unforgettable night when Dr. Fauci and Dame Judi Dench reportedly had a brief romance,’ as seen in a video from the Daily Mail.
TopMob News contacted representatives for James Corden, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and Judi Dench seeking comment, but they didn’t receive a response.
This wasn’t the first time Corden faced criticism for a joke told on stage. He previously received backlash for an inappropriate comment referencing the Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse scandal.
Days later, he apologized for the wisecrack.
James Corden clarified that sexual assault is a serious issue, especially in light of recent criticism. He explained that his intention wasn’t to downplay Harvey Weinstein’s unacceptable actions, but to criticize Weinstein himself, not the people he harmed.
“I am truly sorry for anyone offended,” he continued, “that was never my intention.”
