South Park Confirms Surprise Delay With New Episode First Look

The upcoming episode of South Park Season 27 will experience an unexpected delay, as indicated by recent announcements. Previously, the season premiered this month with an exceptionally controversial episode, marking a significant milestone in the animated series. With Paramount on board for a major deal and some notable changes within the network, South Park didn’t shy away from introducing new characters. However, fans will have to wait longer than anticipated to discover what unfolds next.

South Park Season 27 won’t air its second episode on July 30th as many fans anticipated, but instead has been officially rescheduled to premiere on Comedy Central on August 6th. This means fans must wait an additional week for the upcoming episode, but a sneak peek of Episode 2 offers a hint of new perspectives the show will explore when it comes back. Take a look at the teaser below.

How to Watch South Park Season 27 Episode 2

The 2nd episode of South Park Season 27 will air on Comedy Central this Wednesday, August 6th at 10:00PM ET. After its initial broadcast, the episode will only be available for streaming on Paramount+ starting Thursday. This slight delay may catch some fans off guard who were excited to watch the next episode following its highly anticipated premiere, but it’s in line with what series creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker mentioned during the 2025 San Diego Comic-Con weekend about still being unsure of where they want to take the show next.

This morning, we were at South Park pondering over what our next episode will be for the upcoming week. At present, we’re clueless about it,” Parker shared during the San Diego Comic-Con 2025 panel for Comedy Central. “Just last weekend, three days ago, we were questioning if the audience would enjoy it.” It appeared that a plan was in motion for the season, but the two creators disclosed that the trailer released for South Park Season 27 earlier this summer was entirely fictitious and none of it will be used for the new season.

What’s Next for South Park?

Prior to the upcoming season, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, creators of South Park, sealed a whopping $1.5 billion USD agreement for the franchise’s licensing rights. Under this contract, South Park’s archived episodes will be exclusively streamed on Paramount+, while fresh episodes will become available for streaming on Comedy Central a day after their initial broadcast. Moreover, this arrangement guarantees ten episodes per year over the next five years, ensuring that we have at least another five seasons of South Park to look forward to in the future.

The ongoing discussions between Paramount and South Park’s creators have been the reason for pushing back the start date of South Park Season 27, which was initially planned for a July release but ended up being delayed until July 23rd due to these last-minute negotiations.
