What connects House of the Dragon and the X-Men? Both franchises are making significant returns this year – House of the Dragon with a highly anticipated third season, and the X-Men officially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers: Doomsday. And now, thanks to an actor from House of the Dragon, we’ve unexpectedly gotten a crossover between these two worlds.
Phoebe Campbell, who plays Lady Rhaena Targaryen on House of the Dragon, recently spoke with ComicBook’s Chris Killian and her co-star Bethany Antonia (Baela Targaryen) about what’s coming up in Season 3. While Phoebe was excited to discuss Rhaena’s story arc, Bethany shared her dream role: Storm from the X-Men. With the character gaining renewed attention due to the new Avengers film, Bethany expressed a strong desire to play this iconic Marvel hero.
She Wouldn’t Be the First Actor From House of the Dragon To Step Into the MCU
Milly Alcock first gained recognition playing young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the HBO fantasy series, and she’s now starring as Supergirl in a new movie coming out in just two weeks – it’s expected to be a huge hit! After celebrating Alcock’s success, her former co-stars Campbell and Antonia were asked which superhero or villain they’d like to play. Antonia immediately said she’d love to be Storm, joking, “Call me!” when she learned the role hadn’t been filled yet.
The character Storm, whose real name is Ororo Munroe, has been played by two actresses in the X-Men films: Halle Berry in the original movies and Alexandra Shipp in X-Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. Beyond those live-action appearances, Storm has mostly appeared in animated form. Given Antonia Gentry’s impressive performance in House of the Dragon, Marvel might be overlooking a strong contender if they don’t consider her request to play the role. Gentry, known for her work as Lady Baela Targaryen, could truly bring Storm’s power and complexity to life.
