Steam Machine Release Date and Price Announcement Date Reportedly Revealed

News suggests we’ll soon learn when the Steam Machine will finally be released and how much it will cost. Originally planned for early 2026, the device has faced delays, largely due to pricing concerns. Last year, Valve aimed for a $1000 price tag, but with recent increases in component costs and economic challenges – including shortages and the energy crisis – that number is now likely around $1500. Valve is hesitant to announce this higher price, and it’s unclear if there’s currently enough demand for the Steam Machine at that cost.

Rumors have been circulating that the Steam Machine project might be canceled, but Valve has already invested a lot of money into it and will likely want to recoup some of those costs. Because of this, cancellation seems unlikely. A recent report suggests Valve will soon announce the machine’s price and release date.

New Steam Machine Report

According to Steam Hardware Updates, the announcement is expected on Tuesday, June 23rd at 1 PM Eastern Time, with pre-orders starting the following Tuesday, June 30th, also at 1 PM ET.

This is the first report from this source, so the information should be viewed with caution. We haven’t been able to get a comment from Valve, and don’t anticipate one, but we’ll update the article if that changes.

Initially, this report doesn’t seem to indicate any problems. However, Valve is notoriously unpredictable as a company – even they don’t always know their next move! Whenever details like pricing and release dates start to emerge for a new product, there’s always speculation that Half-Life 3 might be announced at the same time.
