Senua is “Quite A Bit Longer” and “More Expansive” Than Previous Hellblade Titles

Xbox’s showcase really focused on bringing exclusive games back to its consoles, and one surprising reveal was Ninja Theory’s Senua. This new game is the third official installment in the series and features more action-packed combat – a change made based on feedback that the previous game, Senua’s Saga, didn’t have enough gameplay.

The game isn’t just getting better overall; the developer also announced on Twitter that it will be significantly longer than previous installments. They aim to deliver a larger, more detailed action-adventure experience, but still want to maintain a focused and thoughtfully paced story centered around Senua.

The story centers around a protagonist stuck between life and death, trying to find peace in the afterlife. Her journey is made incredibly difficult by the enemies she faces, who seem to draw power from her own memories. If you’re familiar with Senua’s struggles, particularly her battle with psychosis, you’ll understand just how challenging this quest will be.

Unlike the previous Hellblade games, this installment features a larger, more open world with increased opportunities for exploration and puzzle-solving. The combat system has been improved, letting you fight with weapons in both hands and use special abilities. And, of course, you’ll face challenging bosses, including a showdown with Senua’s troubled past.

Keep an eye out for Senua in 2027! It’s coming to Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, and we’ll be sharing more details and gameplay footage soon.
