There has been a new Spider-Man: Brand New Day update thanks to the movie’s official website. The movie arrives in theaters on July 31st, and it will continue the storyline from Spider-Man: No Way Home. The entire world forgot that Peter Parker ever existed, and Spider-Man moved on without his friends and family to take on the world alone. The first trailers showed him fighting some classic villains in what is likely to be an early movie montage, and the main villain still remains unknown. What is known is that there are some minor villains seen in the trailers, the Hand seems to have a big role in the movie, and Sadie Sink is playing a mystery character.
Peter Parker is starting a new chapter as Spider-Man. Now fully dedicated to fighting crime, he faces challenges both from a world that’s forgotten him and from watching his friends build lives without him. These pressures are causing changes within Peter that could be beyond his control. However, this very transformation might be the key to stopping a dangerous new enemy – one so powerful they’re almost invisible.
Who Is the Unseen Threat in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

Early trailers for Spider-Man: Brand New Day feature Spider-Man battling familiar foes like Boomerang and Tarantula. It appears these scenes are flashbacks showing what he’s been up to between films. We also see him fighting Scorpion, and a surprising fight with The Hand. Rumors suggest Tombstone will appear, alongside Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes such as The Punisher and Hulk.
The most popular theory right now is that Sadie Sink will be playing Jean Grey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This version of the character would be a younger one, existing in a world without the X-Men and without any training from Professor X. However, she hasn’t appeared in any trailers yet, so it remains unconfirmed. Many fans also believe this unseen villain everyone is talking about is actually Jean Grey, suggesting she’s secretly manipulating everything that’s happening.
A more plausible theory is that Jean Grey isn’t the true villain. If she’s causing trouble using her mind control, someone is probably controlling her. Several villains could be behind this, but the Beast of the Hand seems like the most likely suspect. Given the Hand’s involvement in the movie, he could be manipulating Jean and forcing her to work with them.
There’s an even more compelling possibility that could significantly expand the X-Men’s universe, potentially going far beyond Jean Grey. If a hidden, unseen villain is involved – and it might tie into Jean Grey and the introduction of mutants into the MCU – the Shadow King could be appearing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. While the Shadow King was featured in the Legion TV series (which wasn’t part of the MCU), this opens the door for a new version to emerge in the main MCU timeline. Many fans have speculated that Mister Sinister might be the major villain for the next phase of Marvel, but the Shadow King could pose an even greater threat and aligns perfectly with the recently released plot summary.
