Over the years, there have been many versions of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. One particularly interesting take came from a team featuring the original Pink Ranger. Called Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return, this series – created by Amy Jo Johnson and her team including Matt Hotson, Nico Leon, Francesco Segala, Gloria Martinelli, and Ed Dukeshire – showed us alternate versions of the Rangers 22 years after a devastating event broke them apart. Now, that series has its first ever action figure, and it’s fantastic!
In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return, we’re reintroduced to Jason, the Red Ranger, who has become a seasoned veteran – he’s even stopped needing to morph! Now, Threezero has created an incredibly detailed action figure of this version of Jason. It perfectly captures his battle-worn Red Ranger suit, complete with all his gear like belts, armor, a cape that looks realistically weathered, and iconic weapons. The set includes both his Power Sword and Blade Blaster (which can transform), as well as interchangeable hands for different poses.
The FigZero Red Power Ranger figure is 12.2 inches tall and incredibly detailed, with 34 points of movement. It’s easy to see the differences between this suit and the classic Red Ranger design. The Biggest Changes To The Red Ranger in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return
In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return, most of the original Power Rangers have moved on with their lives and no longer fight as heroes. However, Jason Scott, the Red Ranger, is an exception. After his time as a Ranger, Jason became a firefighter, but he secretly started using his powers to help people in need. This quickly evolved into actively fighting crime, causing him to morph more and more frequently.
Jason’s involvement increased, leading him to counter-terrorism missions. He then acted independently, ordering Billy and Zack to stop morphing so he could absorb their power and remain in his Ranger form indefinitely. Although now a dedicated Ranger, Jason still couldn’t identify the mysterious source interfering with the morphing grid.
Jason wields a more powerful version of the Power Sword. Although he’s been separated from the other Rangers for a while, they come back together when they learn something important about Tommy. After this, Jason chooses to relinquish his role as leader.
The graphic novel Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return is available at comic book shops, and pre-orders are open now for figures from Threezero. These figures are scheduled to be delivered in early 2027.
