Infinity Ward is giving players who pre-order the new Call of Duty game a chance to play the single-player campaign a week before its official release. If you pre-order Modern Warfare 4, you can start playing the campaign on October 16th, 2026.
The team has successfully used this offer to encourage pre-orders for previous Modern Warfare games, and they’ll be doing the same for Modern Warfare 4.
Previously, completing the single-player campaign in Call of Duty games unlocked extra features for multiplayer. However, Infinity Ward hasn’t announced any similar rewards for Modern Warfare 4 yet. If you pre-order the digital Standard or Vault Edition, you’ll get access to the campaign before it officially launches, but physical copies don’t include early access.
Co-studio heads Jack O’Hara and Mark Grigsby shared more in a quick social media video:
I think giving players early access is a smart move here. Most Call of Duty fans rush straight into multiplayer and skip the story campaign. Letting them play the campaign a week beforehand gives them time to learn the ropes and get used to anything new in Modern Warfare 4.
This is different from the Control Resonant incentive. That offer gave people who pre-ordered the story-driven game on PS5 two days of early access, making it a special bonus for pre-ordering.
The new Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 4, takes place mainly in South Korea, which is a fresh change of scenery. While the single-player campaign probably won’t be groundbreaking – the best Call of Duty campaigns were released during the PlayStation 3 era – it will be good to finish it before the multiplayer game comes out.
