7 Powerful DC Heroes Who Should Never Fight Darkseid Solo

Darkseid is now considered one of DC Comics’ most iconic villains. Created by Jack Kirby in 1970 as the central antagonist of the Fourth World, he quickly proved to be a unique character. By the 1980s, Darkseid’s influence expanded beyond his original New Gods storyline and throughout the wider DC Universe. He’s since appeared in countless comics and become a key figure in major DC events. Many fans see him as Superman’s greatest foe, largely because very few heroes can match his immense power.

DC Comics is home to incredibly powerful heroes, but even they stand little chance against Darkseid. While strong on their own, facing the ruler of Apokolips in a one-on-one fight would be a mistake for many of them. These seven heroes, in particular, would be easily defeated and should avoid a solo battle with him.

7) Guy Gardner

Among the Green Lanterns, humans are the strongest fighters, and Guy Gardner is exceptionally powerful. While incredibly strong-willed – a key trait for any Lantern – Guy is also reckless, hot-headed, and tends to act without thinking. This impulsiveness would be a major weakness in a solo fight against someone like Darkseid. He’d overestimate his abilities, rush into battle, and likely be easily defeated. Guy’s the one Green Lantern most likely to attempt this dangerous confrontation alone, but it would be a disastrous mistake.

6) Power Girl

Power Girl has been a popular character for many years and is incredibly powerful within the DC Universe. As a Kryptonian from Earth-Two, she’s a major force on any team, even strong enough to challenge someone like Darkseid. But like another hero, she struggles with anger and often acts impulsively. This makes her a poor choice to fight Darkseid, as Superman defeats him through strategy and intelligence – something Power Girl would likely lack, leading to a devastating loss.

5) Jakeem Thunder

Jakeem Thunder is an incredibly powerful hero, ranking among the Justice Society’s strongest members – and even Earth’s most powerful overall. He wields a magical pen that houses the Thunderbolt, a genie from another dimension. By making a wish to the Thunderbolt, Jakeem can accomplish nearly anything. While he has immense potential, his youth and lack of independent experience would be a major disadvantage against a formidable foe like Darkseid, who would likely defeat him.

4) Hawkman

Hawkman is now similar to Wolverine in the DC Universe, but with greater strength and experience. While he may not appear as powerful as some other heroes, his Nth Metal Claw of Horus lets him fight even the most formidable villains. This claw gives him a chance against incredibly powerful beings, even allowing him to harm someone like a god of evil. However, Hawkman lacks the resilience to withstand a prolonged fight; he simply can’t survive the amount of damage Darkseid can inflict, and would be defeated quickly even with the Claw.

3) Supergirl

Supergirl is incredibly powerful and could potentially harm Darkseid, but she hasn’t fully realized her potential. While many believe she’s even more powerful than Superman, she lacks his level of experience and tactical skill. Despite her strength and experience as a hero, she wouldn’t be able to defeat Darkseid, as he’s simply too seasoned a fighter and would easily overpower her.

2) Booster Gold

Booster Gold is surprisingly powerful and capable, but often overlooked. Originally, he was just a fame-seeker who traveled back in time with future technology – a Legion flight ring, protective armor, his robot companion Skeets, and a time machine. He’s single-handedly saved the multiverse multiple times, and is both clever and resilient. Despite his strengths, Booster Gold can be a bit foolish and overconfident, and that’s going to be a major disadvantage when he inevitably faces Darkseid. He doesn’t stand a chance against the villain and would be quickly defeated.

1) Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is a true icon in the world of comics and one of its most skilled heroes. Though not as physically powerful as Superman, her incredible training allows her to hold her own even against him. She could certainly put up a fight against Darkseid, but ultimately, her lesser strength would likely lead to defeat. This battle has been depicted many times, and while she sometimes manages to survive through clever tactics or outside help, she’s never truly won. Although she’s become more powerful recently, it remains a difficult match for her.
