Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Final Update Concludes Naoe and Yasuke’s Story, Adds New End-Game Domains

The last update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows arrives tomorrow, adding plenty of fresh content for players. It includes a new story quest called ‘Black Tides,’ which concludes the storyline for Naoe and Yasuke as they battle two powerful Templars.

The title itself is a pretty strong hint, but the new game will definitely have story elements similar to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. Plus, Kassandra, the main character from Odyssey, might make an appearance – it just makes sense.

Next, players can try Domains, a new end-game activity. According to Simon Lemay-Comtois, Associate Game Director, Domains takes familiar elements from the Shadows content and reimagines them in a more fantastical setting. He describes it as a final challenge for players who enjoy the RPG aspects of Shadows.

Each time you play, you’ll encounter five different maps, each with its own set of challenges. The core goal—defeating the Daishos to reach the boss—seems straightforward, but harder difficulties add extra hurdles. Luckily, you can lessen the impact of these challenges with Animus Exploits, and you can use any gear you’ve already unlocked in the main game.

According to Lemay-Comtois, abilities earned in the Animus Exploits won’t work outside of that mode, but any gear you already own will be usable in Domains, and rewards from Domains will carry over to the main game. You might need to adjust your character builds, particularly on harder difficulties.

Players who conquer the special Domains will earn unique weapons and gear, but they’ll have to earn them through completing challenges – they won’t be available for purchase. There’s also a story behind these maps, created by a hacker called MOD. By exploring and investigating, players can uncover more about her and hints about what’s to come.

The newest update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, version 1.1.11, will be available on June 16th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. If you’d like to learn more about how the game has been progressing, you can read our detailed report.
