The BBC has released a sneak peek of “Better Later,” a new comedy series created by Ruth Jones, one of the writers behind “Gavin & Stacey.” They’ve also announced that production on the show is now underway.
Jones stars in and helped write a new comedy alongside Steve Speirs, her former colleague from ‘Stella’. The movie centers on two characters who meet while recovering from knee injuries and explores the surprising happiness they find in becoming friends.
Jones plays Shelley Anne, a 55-year-old environmental health officer dealing with a difficult divorce. Speirs is Clive, a 60-year-old retired teacher who lost his wife.
The initial photo shows actors Jones and Spiers filming a scene. Jones is holding a clapperboard in front of a shop, which represents the series’ setting – the made-up village of Brynfach.
Filming is taking place in and around South Wales including the Brecon Beacons.

Jones explained that the show feels like a lifetime in the making, as he originally met his co-star, Steve, around 35 years ago.
She explained that they haven’t been writing much lately because they’ve been busy with other projects, but they’re thrilled to be filming together again.
Speirs continued, saying it had been a while since he and Ruth had worked together. He joked that Ruth always makes him laugh – he’s easily amused – and predicted the filming would likely take a good amount of time.
Transmission details will be announced at a later date.
