The Minecrawler Armor is a side quest in Gothic 1 Remake where you get a set of Crawler Plate Armor from a character named Wolf. It’s easy to begin the quest while heading to the Free Mine, but players sometimes struggle to find enough Crawler Plates, track down Wolf after delivering them, or actually collect the completed armor.
This guide will walk you through getting The Minecrawler Armor in Gothic 1 Remake. It covers how to obtain Minecrawler Plates, where to find Wolf after you’ve given him the plates, and how long it takes to craft the Crawler Plate Armor.
I’m determined to finish everything in Gothic 1 Remake, and I’ve found a really helpful resource! They’re building a complete walkthrough with a list of all the chapters and quests, and they’re already confirming which quests are available and linking to guides. It’s becoming a one-stop shop for completing the game!
How to Start The Minecrawler Armor in Gothic 1 Remake
You can begin the Minecrawler Armor quest by talking to Wolf along the road to the Free Mine. It’s confirmed to be available from Chapter 4 onwards while you’re traveling to the Free Mine for ‘The Banner of Banners’ event, although it might become available a little sooner. Just keep in mind that you won’t be able to finish this quest until you’ve completed ‘The Banner of Banners,’ so there’s no rush to start it beforehand.
To find Wolf, go to the back of New Camp and walk past the Residential Cave. Continue up and to the left, and before you reach the waterfall, turn left towards the Free Mine. You’ll find Wolf standing along the path – his location is marked on the map.
Once you begin the quest for the Minecrawler Armor, Wolf teaches you the Take Plates skill. This skill lets you collect Crawler Plates from Minecrawler Warriors – the essential materials Wolf uses to craft the armor.
When Can You Complete The Minecrawler Armor?
You need to finish the quest ‘The Banner of Banners’ before you can get the full Minecrawler Armor. You can collect the Crawler Plates beforehand and give them to Wolf, but he won’t assemble the armor for you until you’ve completed ‘The Banner of Banners’.
Where to Find Minecrawler Warriors in the Free Mine
To finish building the Minecrawler Armor, you’ll need 16 Crawler Plates. You get two Crawler Plates from each Minecrawler Warrior, so you’ll have to defeat a total of eight warriors. Here’s where you can find them:
First Minecrawler Warrior Group
Go inside the Free Mine and descend to the lowest level. You’ll find Jackal and his guards there – defeat them. Then, proceed forward until you see a metal gate. To open it, enter the small room to your left and turn the wheel.
Go through the metal gate and follow the main path until you enter a large room guarded by enemies. Defeat the guards, then find the ladder inside the room. Climb down the ladder to a path below, where you’ll find three Minecrawler Warriors. Defeating them will give you six Crawler Plates.
Second Minecrawler Warrior Group
Once you’ve gathered the first six plates, return to the room with the ladder you climbed down earlier. Follow the pathway going upwards and to the right – it will lead you to another ladder. Climb down this ladder to reach a chamber containing a large forge.
When you enter the room, take the wooden path upwards and to the left. Follow it until you come to a small pool. You’ll find three more Minecrawler Warriors here, which will give you six additional Crawler Plates.
Third Minecrawler Warrior Group
Start at the pool entrance, then climb the stone ledges on your left and follow the path into the prison cell room. This is where Tarrok is kept during ‘The Banner of Banners’ quest, and you’ll find two Minecrawler Warriors here. Defeat them and search their bodies to get the last four Crawler Plates. Your journal should now confirm you have all the plates Wolf needs.
Where to Find Wolf After Getting the Crawler Plates
Once you’ve gathered 16 Crawler Plates, go back to Wolf – you’ll find him on the road leading to the Free Mine. Talk to him and give him the plates, and he’ll start crafting your armor. Just be aware that it won’t be finished right away; you’ll have to wait before you can actually get the Crawler Plate Armor.
How Long to Wait for Crawler Plate Armor
Once you’ve delivered the Crawler Plates, head to the house with the green awning in the inner part of New Camp’s Residential Cave and rest for a full day (24 hours). Then, go up to Wolf’s workshop, which is located high on the outer ring of the cave. If you can’t find it, look above the house with the green awning – the pictures show what Wolf’s workshop looks like.
You’ll find Wolf in the workshop, busy at his workbench. If you ask him, “Any progress on that special armor?”, he’ll give you the Crawler Plate Armor and finish the ‘The Minecrawler Armor’ side quest.
What If Wolf Does Not Give You the Armor?
If Wolf isn’t mentioning the armor in conversation, first make sure you’ve finished the quest ‘The Banner of Banners’. If you’ve completed that quest and still don’t see the option, try waiting a full day in-game and checking Wolf’s workshop again. If it still isn’t working, progress to Chapter 5 and then go back to see Wolf.
How to Get Minecrawler Armor in Gothic 1 Remake
To begin getting the Minecrawler Armor, first talk to Wolf on the road leading to the Free Mine. Next, gather 16 Crawler Plates by defeating Minecrawler Warriors within the Free Mine. Return these plates to Wolf, then wait 24 in-game hours. Finally, go to Wolf’s workshop, located in the Residential Cave of New Camp, and ask him about the special armor to receive it.
