Fans now know who will voice Jessica Cruz, the new Green Lantern! The actress has been announced before her first appearance in an upcoming episode, paving the way for the Green Lantern spinoff series she’ll lead.
I’m so excited! Entertainment Weekly just gave us a first look at Season 3 of My Adventures of Superman, and Auliʻi Cravalho is going to voice Supergirl! You probably know her as Moana from the Disney movie, and now she’s taking on another awesome role – she’ll also be playing Cruz in the new My Adventures with Green Lantern spinoff. Can’t wait to hear her as Supergirl!
Jessica Cruz Enters the My Adventures With Superman Universe
In season 3 of My Adventures with Superman, Jessica Cruz appears before becoming Green Lantern. The next episode, titled “Mobile Suit Toyman,” features a conversation between her and Supergirl, who is voiced by Kiana Madeira.
The plan for the second episode was always to highlight Supergirl’s impact on the world and explore how various characters reacted differently to her presence, according to Superman showrunner Jake Wyatt.
When we found out Green Lantern was approved, we wanted Jessica Cruz – before she became a Green Lantern – to offer an everyday person’s perspective on Supergirl. We thought it would be interesting to show how a shy teenager with limited powers would view this strong, world-changing superhero, and also what Supergirl might learn about herself by seeing things through Jessica’s eyes.
Wyatt explained that Auli’i Cravalho’s audition stood out from all the others. He said many actors did well reading for the part of Jessica, but Auli’i brought a unique emotional depth and effortless charm to the character, making it clear she was the right choice.
The Green Lantern Corps Are All Over TV
After a poorly received Green Lantern movie 15 years ago – one that led to years of jokes at Ryan Reynolds’ expense – the Green Lantern Corps are poised for a comeback. This Sunday marks Jessica Cruz’s first appearance in the My Adventures Universe, but it’s just the start of bigger plans DC Studios has for this galactic police force.
This new series is a live-action murder mystery taking place within the DC Universe. The first season centers on Hal Jordan—the iconic Green Lantern played by Kyle Chandler—who unexpectedly finds himself mentoring John Stewart (Aaron Pierre), another Green Lantern. Together, these intergalactic law enforcers investigate a sinister mystery that unfolds here on Earth.
I’m really excited to see Pierre pop up in James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow – it’s slated for 2027, though honestly, who knows with release dates these days! And there’s also My Adventures with Green Lantern coming eventually, but we don’t have any idea when that one will hit theaters yet.
Stephanie Gonzaga is co-executive producer, working with Wyatt, on the new animated series from Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios. Sam Register, James Gunn, and Peter Safran are also executive producers on the project.
In My Adventures with Green Lantern, a powerful ring descends from the sky and selects Jessica Cruz, a quiet and compassionate high schooler, as its new hero. The situation becomes more challenging when remnants of an old conflict between space-faring warriors begin to appear, bringing their enemies with them.
According to an official description, the story of My Adventures with Green Lantern follows Jess as she battles her personal struggles and fears to become the leader of a new team of Lanterns and face a frightening enemy, all while trying to save the planet.
The second episode of My Adventures with Superman Season 3, titled “Mobile Suit Toyman,” will be shown on Adult Swim on June 21st.
