5 Emmerdale spoilers for next week: Kev Townsend returns, a new Sugden arrives, and Charity Dingle goes missing

I’m seriously worried about Lewis! Those masked men just snatched him and stuffed him in a van. Apparently, they think his dad, Kev – who’s got a criminal past – stole a really valuable diamond. Now, Lewis’s freedom depends on these guys finding it, which is terrifying. It feels like they’re holding him hostage until they get what they want.

Actor Chris Coghill is returning to his popular and hilarious role after a seven-month break, starting next week.

Even though the character claims to have changed, he refuses to give up the gem and pretends he already sold it. Meanwhile, Kev is wrestling with his guilt: will he reveal that he’s Lewis’s father, or will he let Lewis suffer while being held captive?

Trouble brews at the depot as Caleb Miligan challenges Kerry Pollard and Archie Breckle about their dishonest scheme. Meanwhile, a new character, Serena Sugden, portrayed by Casey Al-Shaqsy, appears at Emmerdale Farm.

Plus, pushed to the brink of despair, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) goes missing.

I’m so excited for next week on Emmerdale! Here’s a rundown of what you can expect to see happening in the episodes from Monday, June 22nd through Thursday, June 25th.

5 Emmerdale spoilers for next week

1. Kev Townsend stages a return amid Lewis Barton’s abduction

Ross Barton is thrown into panic after getting a frightening message: Lewis has been kidnapped. The kidnapper quickly reveals the condition for Lewis’s safe return – someone must give back an object called “Penny.”

As time slips away, Ross urges Liam not to call the police, believing they have a better shot at locating Lewis by finding his adopted dad, Jeffrey. Unfortunately, all their attempts to find Jeffrey hit dead ends.

With no other options left, Liam finally confessed a secret he’d kept hidden for a long time: Kev is Lewis’s biological father.

Understanding how important this new information was, Ross quickly started trying to locate Kev. Just then, a woman named Kylie (played by Pippa Fulton) approached him and confirmed what everyone had been dreading: she was the one holding Lewis hostage, and she wouldn’t let him go until Penny was returned.

Kylie calls the item her most prized possession and insists she’s not going to give up on it.

Liam is determined to find Lewis and convinces Claudette Anderson to tell him where Kev is. He soon discovers Kev is selling cakes out of a van.

Ross gets instantly annoyed by Kev’s disrespectful behavior, and their argument quickly escalates into a fight. Kev insists Penny is just an old piece of jewelry he once pawned, leading Ross to tell him to repurchase it.

But when he’s by himself, Kev shows everyone he still has the diamond – he never sold it at all.

With Lewis still nowhere to be found, everyone is increasingly worried. Meanwhile, Ross gets another disturbing message from Kylie – this one includes a frightening picture of surgical scalpels.

Kylie then video calls Kev and gives him one last warning: he has until the end of the day to return Penny. She emphasizes how serious she is by mentioning her past – eight years served in Holloway prison.

At first, Kev says the diamond is already gone from the pawn shop. Then, he changes his story, saying he managed to find and buy it back. Is he feeling guilty about something?

Ross believes someone is still keeping secrets, so he resorts to extreme measures and knocks the person unconscious. He then tells Liam they can use this person as leverage, and prepares for a dangerous trade.

With Ross going to bargain for Lewis’s freedom with Kylie, will everyone survive this dangerous situation?

2. Charity Dingle reaches her breaking point as her secret is on the brink of exposure

Charity and Cain Dingle have been thinking about what’s caused their recent angry outbursts, realizing they’ve both been hurting.

Noticing a recurring issue, she advises him to talk honestly with his wife, Moira, and their son Liam about how he’s feeling. However, when he asks her to open up in return, she avoids dealing with her own problems.

Mackenzie Boyd tells Chas he’s struggling to support Charity right now. Chas feels guilty because she’s hiding things from him and having to deal with everything on her own.

He tried talking to his wife again, hoping to connect with her emotionally, but she wasn’t receptive. Overwhelmed and heartbroken by his presence, Charity quickly left in her car.

It absolutely breaks my heart to watch this scene unfold. Charity’s family is frantically looking for her, but she’s completely isolated by a lonely lake. You can just see how devastated she is – she’s barely holding it together. She keeps ignoring Mack when he tries to reach out, and she’s just lost in her own world, staring off into nothingness. It’s truly heartbreaking.

As time passed and the villagers couldn’t find them, worry increased. Finally, fearing something terrible had happened, Mack decided to call the police.

Charity was by the lake when she heard someone approaching. A woman came up to her and quickly realized she was upset. Trying to help, the woman kindly asked Charity what was wrong.

But when she reaches out to touch her, Charity reacts instinctively and punches her.

Charity was deeply embarrassed and quickly apologized, but the stranger gently pointed out that her strong reaction might be connected to past difficulties with trust or setting healthy personal limits. Feeling increasingly comfortable with this understanding person, Charity began to relax and open up.

While giving the police an update on Charity’s disappearance, Mack presses Chas, wondering if she’s holding back information. Will she finally reveal what she knows?

3. Caleb Miligan uncovers Archie Breckle and Kerry Pollard’s AI scam

Okay, so things are really starting to ramp up for Caleb. He’s getting increasingly convinced that someone’s pretending to be Steph, and his suspicions are now squarely on Archie. It’s a classic ‘who can he trust?’ situation, and I’m definitely intrigued to see where this leads. Archie’s looking pretty shady right now, and I’m starting to wonder what his angle is.

Caleb invents a job offer related to AI at the depot as a way to look into things more closely. While the teen is occupied with this supposed opportunity, Caleb manages to access his laptop and uncovers something surprising.

Hidden among the files is a folder labelled “Steph”, confirming his worst fears.

When Caleb challenges Archie about it, Archie quickly tries to avoid responsibility by claiming Kerry was the one who came up with the plan. Caleb immediately confronts Kerry, and though she attempts to explain herself, he won’t hear it and threatens to call the police.

Kerry fiercely insists Archie was the one who planned everything, but is shocked to discover he’s already accusing her instead. Caleb warns Kerry she could face jail time, but she vows to fight back and retaliates with a threat.

4. Jai Sharma grows suspicious of Caleb Miligan and Billy Fletcher’s operation

Jai Sharma starts to wonder about the growing connection between Caleb and Billy Fletcher after noticing they’re spending a lot of time together.

Despite trying to figure out the truth, Caleb becomes increasingly preoccupied with his suspicions about Jai and Kerry.

Is a new conflict starting? And what will Jai do when he finds out they’re using the depot to move fake products?

5. Sarah Sugden is surprised by the arrival of her mysterious relative, Serena

Sarah Sugden, played by Katie Hill, is stunned to suddenly encounter a family member named Serena while at Emmerdale Farm.

Casey Al-Shaqsy joined the team earlier this month, but it’s still unknown what role she’ll play within the existing group dynamic.

Producer Laura Shaw shared that the Sugden family is central to the show Emmerdale, and they’re excited to have Casey join them.

The character will be central to several intense and surprising plots, putting her in situations where she must make tough decisions that will significantly impact key residents of the village.

I’m so excited to share that I’ve joined the cast of this incredible show! I’m going to be playing Serena Sugden, and honestly, she’s a really complex and fascinating character. There’s so much more to her than meets the eye, and I can’t wait for everyone to see all the drama and storylines that are coming up. I’m truly thrilled to be a part of it all!

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and from 7am on ITVX.
