Teddi Mellencamp is starting a new chapter.
After a challenging cancer journey – initially diagnosed with melanoma in 2022 and later progressing to stage four in 2025 – the former Real Housewife of Beverly Hills experienced hair loss from treatment. A recent visit to The Wig Fairy salon, where she tried on a full, blonde wig, brought a touching and emotional reaction from the reality star, which fans were able to witness.
Mellencamp shared a heartfelt reaction on Instagram on June 11th, exclaiming how much more comfortable and better his hair looked – so much so that it felt like a natural part of him! He admitted he was getting emotional because he loved the result so much.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m always fascinated by transformations! And let me tell you, even my podcast co-host admitted she was envious of someone’s recent bouncy hairstyle. It’s incredible when beauty can be found after such a challenging journey – this person actually shaved her head before brain surgery to remove tumors that were initially mistaken for migraines. She discovered them during an emergency room visit and is now regrowing her hair, but honestly, the new style looks amazing!
John Mellencamp’s daughter, who has three children – Slate (12), Cruz (11), and Dove (6) – with her former partner Edwin Arroyave, was particularly thrilled to finally be able to style her hair in new ways, like putting it in a ponytail. She called being able to do so “such a game-changer.”
Mellencamp beamed from the salon chair, excitedly exclaiming, “I’m so happy! I absolutely love it!”
Mellencamp hasn’t just changed up her look recently; she’s also been sharing updates about her health. On June 2nd, she posted a video to Instagram showing what a typical day as a patient is like.
Mellencamp shared that he’s been receiving monthly immunotherapy treatments since his stage four cancer diagnosis. He used to get scans every month to monitor his condition, but recently doctors decided to extend that to every three or four months. This change has made him very anxious and worried.

Although Mellencamp felt worried before her appointment, she happily shared positive news from her doctor during the video call.
“The scans are clear – we don’t see any tumors in your body,” Mellencamp’s doctor told her. “When you first came to us, you had tumors in both your brain and lungs, but they’ve disappeared. It looks like the treatment worked, and immunotherapy played a key role in your recovery.”
Doctors described Mellencamp’s recovery as excellent and confirmed he was in remission. If this continues for three years, his chances of long-term survival are around 95 percent, according to his doctor.

While recovering, John Mellencamp’s daughter has been enjoying time with friends such as Tamra Judge and family. Recent activities included watching her oldest child compete in a horse riding event and celebrating her youngest’s birthday.
Mellencamp shared that he was hospitalized last year and couldn’t attend his daughter Dove’s birthday party. He made sure to celebrate with her this year, expressing how thankful and moved he was to be able to share the special day – her sixth birthday.

Oh my gosh, you guys, I was SO worried about Melissa! She seemed really nervous before she talked to her doctor in that new video. But then… she shared the news, and it was AMAZING! Her doctor said things were looking good, and honestly, just hearing her say it made my whole week. I’m so relieved!
“The scans are clear – we can’t find any sign of cancer in your body,” Mellencamp’s doctor explained. “When you first came to us, you had tumors in both your brain and lungs, but those are gone now. It looks like the treatment worked, and immunotherapy especially seems to have made a big difference.”
I was so relieved to hear the doctor say John Mellencamp was responding incredibly well to treatment – they actually called it the best possible outcome! He’s now officially in remission, and the doctor explained that if this lasts for three years, it means there’s a really high chance – around 95% – of long-term survival for someone with his condition. It’s just amazing news, and I’m really hopeful for his future.

Teddi and Edwin take Slate, Dove and Cruz to the LOL Surprise! The Movie premiere in Los Angeles in 2021.

In June 2024, a family of five spent a fun-filled day at Disneyland and California Adventure with friends. Teddi shared on Instagram, playfully noting the saying “it’s a small world,” but adding that her feet were definitely feeling the distance!

“I needed this,” Teddi captioned a pic with her youngest. “Thank you.”

Teddi celebrated a huge achievement by her oldest child in July 2024, sharing that they won the Classic Stake at the Junior Hunter Finals when just eleven years old. She expressed how incredibly proud she was of them!

In an August 2024 Instagram post, Teddi explained why she was crying, listing several reasons: she’ll miss her kids, realizing their growing up also highlights her own aging, and finally, she can now enjoy uninterrupted work during the day. She admitted it was likely a mix of all these feelings.

The family honors Teddi’s dad, music legend John Mellencamp, in October 2024.
She wished her dads a happy birthday and said she loved spending the weekend with them at the Capital Challenge Horse Show. She playfully mentioned a funny photo or video as a lasting, enjoyable memory, and sent her love to John Mellencamp.

Slate, Dove and Cruz enjoy a day with grandpa.

The former Bravo star jokingly posted on Instagram that even though his grandpa is 93 years old, he’s still chosen for family football teams before him. He added that the real debate in their family is whether pumpkin or apple pie is better, and asked his followers for their preference.

Teddi celebrates Thanksgiving 2024 with her three kids.

“The North Pole comes to SoCal!” Teddi shared with a festive photo.

On New Year’s Eve 2024, Teddi jokingly asked her followers if anyone else was already celebrating the ball drop at 9 PM Pacific Time. She also wondered how parents managed to keep their kids awake until midnight on New Year’s Eve!

“Happy birthday to my sweet little one!” wrote podcast host Tiffani Thiessen in February 2025. “It feels like just yesterday our lives were filled with so much more joy when you arrived, and even though you’re growing up fast, you’ll always be my Baby Dovey.”
