Live-action versions of anime are becoming increasingly popular, and even if not every series gets a TV show or movie, many franchises are finding creative ways to come to life. Live stage productions have been especially successful in bringing well-known anime to new audiences. This summer, the hit anime Chainsaw Man will be performing its live-action play in North America as part of one of the largest anime conventions held in the West, which is exciting news for fans!
I’m so excited! The team behind Chainsaw Man: The Stage is coming to Anime Expo this year, and they’re doing a special panel on Thursday, July 2nd. We’re going to get a sneak peek at some of the best moments from the stage play, plus an exclusive video message from the original cast and crew! They said it’s like experiencing CHAINSAW MAN in a whole new way – bringing Tatsuki Fujimoto’s amazing manga to life on stage. I can’t wait to learn more about how they made it all happen at Anime Expo 2026! You can find details about the panel below if you want to check it out too.
Chainsaw Man is Revving Up
The next live stage play based on Chainsaw Man will cover the events of Chainsaw Man The Movie: The Reze Arc. The play will bring the Bomb Devil to life on stage in Japan from July 25th to August 12th this summer. Following the initial announcement, Fumiya Matsuzaki, the scriptwriter and director, shared a message with fans.
It was amazing how everyone involved – the actors, the crew – just naturally understood what we were all aiming for. I’m still so thankful to the whole team from our last show. It feels like a long time ago now, remembering that soccer scene and the blackout! Well, “Chainsaw Man The Stage” is continuing with the Reze arc. We’re keeping the same overall look, but we’ve all grown so much in these past three years. I think we’ll be able to bring even more depth and excitement to the story, blending beautiful moments with truly wild theatrics. I really hope both fans of “Chainsaw Man” and theater lovers will enjoy what we create.
Even though the Chainsaw Man manga finished its run earlier this year, the anime isn’t over yet! There’s plenty more story to tell, and Studio MAPPA has confirmed they’re already working on adapting the next part, Chainsaw Man: The Assassins Arc. It’s currently unknown whether this will be a new season of the TV show or a movie, but we might find out at Anime Expo next month.
