Jennifer Lopez is reflecting on a terrifying experience.
Jennifer Lopez recently shared that the intense pressure of balancing her career in the early 2000s severely impacted her health, causing a period where she temporarily lost her vision and ability to move normally.
Jennifer Lopez was incredibly busy around the time she made her album, JLo. She explained to Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett on their Smartless podcast that she had already filmed four movies consecutively and was working on the album – which became a huge success – while filming every day.
I remember she described how she’d rush to the studio every night, and then fill her weekends with things like promotional trips or music video shoots. It was crazy – she didn’t even realize she’d been working non-stop for almost 100 days straight without a single day off! It just shows how dedicated she was, but also how easily she could push herself too far.
While filming her 2002 movie Enough, Lopez said the lack of rest finally caught up to her.
She remembered returning to the trailer and sitting down when her vision suddenly blurred. It felt as if a veil had come over her eyes, and she was unable to move.
She explained that they had gone to the hospital, and she’d asked the doctor if she was losing her mind. The doctor reassured her, telling her she wasn’t.
Rather, the doctor informed her that her body had “shut down” from exhaustion.
She admits she didn’t understand her own boundaries back then, and a lot has happened since. She quickly learned that becoming famous wasn’t just physically demanding, but came with other difficulties as well.

Lopez remembered one time thinking she was being robbed when a group of people suddenly came up to her. But then she realized they were fans, and it hit her that she’d probably lost her ability to go anywhere unnoticed.
She realized what had happened was permanent and couldn’t be undone, saying, ‘I thought, you can’t take that back – it will always stay with you.’ That’s when she first began experiencing panic attacks.
She explained it was about adjusting to being famous and accepting that her life had irrevocably changed. ‘Once that happens, there’s no going back,’ she said.

In May 2026, the host of the BFFs podcast had unexpected surgery when doctors found a sizable ovarian cyst. The cyst was twisting her internal organs and leading to dangerous internal bleeding.
After her surgery, Brianna explained in a TikTok video that doctors found about half a liter of blood inside her lower abdomen. She said she has five cuts on her stomach, and the surgeons used a camera inserted through her belly button to locate the source of the bleeding.

Former Total Bellas star said a breast implant moved after being hit in the chest by fellow wrestler Piper Niven during a match in July 2025.
She reassured her sister, Bella Garcia, saying they would get the issue resolved eventually. She explained to the doctor that as soon as her career was over, she’d return to address the problem and ensure everything looked its best, because she planned to use them again and they couldn’t look the way they did.

Lupita Nyong’o, known for her role in 12 Years a Slave, received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids—non-cancerous growths in or around the uterus—in 2014, the same year she won an Academy Award for her performance in the film.
She didn’t share her diagnosis publicly until 2025, revealing on Instagram that she’d been privately struggling with it for over ten years.
It’s just… growing up, everyone always acted like periods were supposed to hurt. Like, pain was just… expected, a normal part of being a woman. And it felt like I was the only one dealing with it, suffering through something so many of us go through, but completely alone. It’s awful, really, that we’re all just supposed to silently struggle with this!

I was so worried when I heard Riley Keough, who I absolutely loved in Daisy Jones & The Six, had to be hospitalized last July! Apparently, it was caused by a hernia – basically a weak spot in her abdominal muscles – and she said wearing tight pants contributed to it. It just goes to show you never know what’s happening beneath the surface, even with someone who always looks amazing.
Someone messaged Suki on X (formerly Twitter) asking why she hadn’t tweeted recently. Suki replied, jokingly suggesting the reason was a hernia she got six months ago from wearing very tight pants, and that she’d been afraid to mention it.

In April 2025, the former star of Beverly Hills, 90210 shared that he was getting better after having surgery for a near-ruptured appendix.
Brian shared in an Instagram video that he recently experienced stomach pain which led him to the emergency room. He explained doctors discovered his appendix had a hole in it – it hadn’t fully ruptured, but was very close to bursting.
He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”

A Racing Louisville player fell to the ground shortly after the start of their September 14th soccer game against Seattle Reign at Lumen Field in Seattle.
According to Reuters, a U.S. Women’s National Team player was seen slowly lowering herself to the ground with a teammate supporting her, just before she suddenly fell. Trainers were immediately called onto the field to assess her condition.
After receiving initial medical attention on the field, Savannah was taken to a nearby hospital for more tests, according to a statement from the National Women’s Soccer League. They reported that she is currently in stable condition and fully conscious.

Adam Devine revealed that injuries from a childhood accident – he was hit by a cement truck at age 11 – continue to cause him problems even now.
Devine described the past year as incredibly difficult, telling Graham Bensinger in a 2025 podcast interview that he’s been experiencing spasms throughout his body. He revealed that doctors had even told him he was facing a life-threatening condition.
He acknowledged experiencing fluctuating pain, explaining that his body simply isn’t working perfectly. He described having some ongoing physical issues.

Let me tell you, I recently had a really scary health experience. I ended up in the hospital because of some truly awful back pain. It got so bad during a road trip with a friend that I literally had to crawl on my hands and knees to get help – it was that debilitating!
He described still feeling tingling in his knees and toes as of March 2025, which he found surprising. He explained that just a few weeks prior, he was able to squat nearly 300 pounds, but now he can’t even do a single squat or stand on one foot without falling – comparing the sensation to having had a stroke.
But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

Gina Kirschenheiter from The Real Housewives of Orange County revealed that her former husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, had a heart attack in March 2025, but he is now doing okay.

In March 2025, the actor from 30 Rock experienced a medical issue while attending a New York Knicks game and had to be taken out of Madison Square Garden in a wheelchair.
The comedian later posted on social media to explain that he’d actually been sick from food poisoning and was starting to feel better.

In February 2025, the former Even Stevens star revealed she was shot in the face during a birthday outing with her husband, Brendan Rooney. They were on a trip to go clay pigeon shooting when the incident occurred.
According to her Instagram post, she was accidentally shot in the face by someone at a party who fired a gun unsafely. She said Brendan Rooney quickly helped her and took her to the hospital. She was hit five times, and one bullet narrowly missed her right eye, coming within an inch of hitting it.
According to the former Kim Possible star, a small piece of something became stuck behind her eye. Doctors have advised against removing it with surgery right now and are continuing to watch her condition, as her vision is currently normal.
The actress expressed immense gratitude for surviving a frightening experience. She shared her deep love for her daughters, husband, family, and friends, explaining that facing a life-threatening situation made her realize how precious life is. She urged everyone to cherish their loved ones and hug them whenever possible, because things can change unexpectedly.

While the internet isn’t always a kind place, Amy Schumer is happy that, in this case, it helped her get answers.
“The internet really came for me after doing a bunch of press, and I was like, ‘OK everybody, relax,'” Amy recalled of her “puffier” face on a January 2025 episode of Call Her Daddy. “But then doctors were chiming in in the comments and they were like, ‘No no, we think something’s really up. Your face looks so crazy that we think something’s up. And I’m like, ‘Wait, I’m getting trolled by doctors?’”
After these doctors said they thought she had Cushing syndrome and that it may be caused by spiking coritsol levels or steroid injections, the Life & Beth creator thought, “Wait, I have been getting steroid injections in my scars.”
“I had a breast reduction, a C-section, whatever, and so I was getting these steroid injections,” Amy said. “So it gave me this thing called Cushing syndrome, which I wouldn’t have known if the internet hadn’t come for me so hard.”
Toda, Amy is just relieved she’s OK. As she shared in a February 2024 News Not Noise newsletter, “Finding out I have the kind of Cushing that will just work itself out and I’m healthy was the greatest news imaginable.”

In December 2024, an AHL hockey player suffered a skate cut during a game and needed 25 stitches to close the wound. After his son made a full recovery, New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald shared with ESPN how relieved they were, saying, “We feel very fortunate this happened to us, and I wouldn’t wish that experience on any parent.”

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly started showing stroke-like symptoms.
Hailey recounted the incident in a YouTube video, explaining that she couldn’t respond when Justin asked if she was okay, and then found herself unable to speak as the right side of her face began to droop. Although her speech and facial movement eventually returned, she went to the hospital for testing.
Doctors discovered Hailey had suffered a small blood clot in her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack).
Further investigation at UCLA revealed Hailey has a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). Doctors determined the blood clot traveled to her brain through this opening.
Hailey successfully underwent a procedure to close the PFO and is now recovering well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the rest of his Justice World Tour.
In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the virus affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also shared that it had become increasingly difficult for him to eat.
Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well, calling the situation scary but reassuring everyone that he would be completely fine and was grateful he was on the mend.

Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had previously kept private. In his 2024 Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, he explained that he suffered from a severe headache one day while in Atlanta. Before he could even take an aspirin, he lost consciousness and doesn’t remember the next twenty days.
Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. There, doctors discovered he had a brain bleed that caused a stroke.
After surgery, twenty days later on May 4th, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair unable to walk. He then went to Chicago for extensive rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed deep gratitude for the prayers he received, saying, “I needed every prayer.”

The celebrity shared that she briefly stopped breathing while running in the first challenge of the NBC show, describing it as feeling like she ‘died’.
She shared on Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter and feeling like she was floating, then seeing her grandfather before everything went dark. Afterwards, she experienced a bright light, which led her to realize she had died that day.
She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where your body essentially starts to shut down.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for The New Yorker. While filming the show, she experienced a sudden and severe headache while at the gym. She described collapsing and being violently ill, realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.
A hospital scan revealed she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage – a life-threatening stroke caused by bleeding around the brain – due to a ruptured aneurysm. She immediately underwent surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia, leaving her unable to speak clearly.
Though the aphasia eventually passed and she was discharged after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery. This surgery was unsuccessful, leading to a massive bleed and a dire prognosis. Doctors had to perform a more invasive procedure, accessing her brain directly through her skull.
Fortunately, Emilia reports that she has now made a full recovery and is at 100%.

Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, credits her family with helping her through a difficult time after she suffered a stroke in January 2024. She immediately reached out to them, sending a text and photo, and they quickly came to support her.
While she could have been discharged from the hospital after the stroke, existing health issues kept her there longer. Cori also deals with lupus and experienced kidney problems during that time.
Now, Cori is recovering well. She says she’s feeling great and has made progress in regaining some motor skills. Overall, she’s doing much better.

As a wellness advocate, I’ve always been fascinated by people’s health journeys, and Shailene Woodley’s story really resonated with me. She recently shared that her early twenties were incredibly challenging health-wise. She was dealing with a lot of unexplained symptoms – losing her hearing, being unable to walk for even short periods without needing to rest for hours, and constant stomach pain. It was a really confusing time, with different doctors offering different diagnoses.
Because I’m a big believer in a holistic approach, Shailene did what I often recommend: she sought answers from both traditional doctors and alternative healers, combining modern medicine with herbalism and other natural practices. It wasn’t a quick fix; it took a full decade of dedicated work.
She explained that the physical discomfort led to a lot of emotional and mental struggles, like fear around food and body image issues. It’s so common for physical pain to impact our mental wellbeing, and vice versa. But the good news is, after years of tending to both her physical and mental health, she’s now feeling fantastic! She’s incredibly grateful to be healthy and comfortable in her own skin, and I’m so happy to hear it. It’s a powerful reminder that healing is possible, even after a long and difficult journey.
