Fans are eagerly awaiting the anime adaptation of Kagurabachi, and a recent teaser suggests the first season will be substantial. Kagurabachi, created by Takeru Hokazono, has quickly become one of the most popular new series in Shonen Jump, making an anime adaptation inevitable. Because the manga is well into its second major story arc, there’s plenty of source material for the anime to draw from.
The anime adaptation of Kagurabachi recently released a new teaser showcasing the main character, Chihiro Rokuhira, and giving fans their first full look at his anime design. Interestingly, the pose Chihiro strikes in the revealed artwork appears much later in the manga than most expected the anime to reach. This suggests the anime might be progressing quickly and could potentially cover the Sword Bearer Assassination Arc.
Kagurabachi Anime Teases Sword Bearer Assassination Arc
While this pose looks great on Chihiro, it’s actually identical to one he strikes in chapter 48 of the original Kagurabachi manga. That chapter marks the beginning of a significant story arc – the Sword Bearer Assassination Arc, which starts around volume 6. This arc is the third major storyline in Takeru Hokazono’s manga, and as of now (with 124 chapters released), it represents roughly one-third of the entire series. It appears this adaptation is covering a surprising amount of material.
If the first season of the anime includes the Sword Bearer Assassination Arc, it would likely need around 24 episodes to cover everything up to that point. This would create a significant cliffhanger for viewers awaiting a second season. As the longest arc in the manga so far – spanning almost 70 chapters – there would still be ample content to adapt if a second season were to arrive around 2028 or 2029.
How Long Will Kagurabachi’s Anime Be?
The first season of Kagurabachi could have 24 episodes, which is fantastic news for fans! However, this fast-paced adaptation also brings up questions about how quickly the manga author, Takeru Hokazono, can continue writing. Ideally, he’ll be able to stay ahead of the anime so it doesn’t face delays.
Fans will find out how Kagurabachi comes to life when it premieres next April as part of the Spring 2027 anime season. Before then, the first 20 minutes of the first episode will be shown at major anime events like Anime Expo 2026 throughout the rest of the year, giving some lucky viewers a sneak peek before the official release and as everyone eagerly awaits further news.
