Lauren Silverman is pulling the curtain back on her relationship.
Over ten years after beginning a relationship with Simon Cowell, the woman—now his fiancée—has spoken about the difficult feelings she experienced when she became pregnant with their son, Eric, while still married to her then-husband, Andrew Silverman.
Speaking on the June 16th episode of the Happy Mum podcast, Sarah Silverman said the end of her marriage – she shares 19-year-old son Adam Silverman with her ex – was a particularly difficult period in her life.
She didn’t want to say she regretted anything, explaining that she believed everything happens for a reason. While she wouldn’t call herself regretful, she admitted wishing some things had turned out differently and that she could change the past if given the chance.
After ending her marriage to Andrew in 2013, the 48-year-old became pregnant during an affair with a judge on America’s Got Talent and felt prepared to move forward with him.
She explained that she always knew Simon was the one for her. She added that no matter how things unfolded, she felt their connection was destined.
Silverman said she regretted how things ended with Cowell, who is 66, but she was also very troubled by it all.
I truly wish I could undo the pain this caused my ex-husband, our son Adam, my family, and everyone involved, but it’s something that happened. The feelings at the time were very strong and complex.
The socialite confessed she didn’t fully enjoy the experience of having a new baby, as she was juggling life between New York City, where her ex-husband and Adam lived, and London.
She explained that living in New York—particularly on the Upper East Side—felt incredibly isolating despite its size. She felt constantly scrutinized, like everyone knew her because she had been featured on so many magazine covers. It was as if a mark of public attention followed her everywhere.
Nonetheless, Silverman understood why she was facing the backlash.
She acknowledged her responsibility, saying she didn’t blame anyone else. She decided to accept the consequences of her actions and move forward, believing she deserved whatever came her way. She resolved to handle the situation quietly and persevere.
For a long time, that’s how I handled things,” Silverman explained. “I just focused on my work and kept going, because I realized if I were watching from the audience, I’d probably feel the same way. So I told myself it was okay, that I earned it, and tried to stay positive.
After the scandal, she’s been focused on self-forgiveness and making sense of her emotions back then.
Silverman explained that she’s done everything she can to accept what happened. Now, she’s no longer concerned with what others say or think about it – she’s moved past needing their approval or understanding.
