My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Returns With an Official New Release Ahead of Season 3

I’m so excited about My Hero Academia: Vigilantes! Even though the main My Hero Academia story is finished, this spin-off is diving into Aizawa’s past in its second season – and now it’s getting an anime adaptation next Spring! It’s set five years before everything we know from Kohei Horikoshi’s original manga. Basically, after quirks became widespread, things got really tough; there was so much villain activity that even heroes couldn’t handle it all. Hideyuki writes the story and Court Betten does the amazing artwork.

This new story features characters who couldn’t become official, licensed heroes, so they fight crime in secret, protecting areas overlooked by the main heroes. The anime previously introduced Shota Aizawa, a popular character from the original series. While his tragic past involving a close friend was hinted at in the original manga, this spin-off dedicates an entire story arc to exploring Aizawa’s youth and his dreams of becoming a hero.

What Is My Hero Academia: Vigilantes About?

Five years before the events of the original series, crime is on the rise in a world filled with people who have superpowers. While heroes tirelessly work to protect everyone, danger still hides in the city’s shadows. This is where vigilantes step in, fighting villains without official permission. Kouichi Haimawari, a college student with a relatively weak superpower, feels lost until he meets Kazuko Haneyama, a vigilante. He soon finds himself caught up in a dangerous criminal organization, giving his life a new purpose.

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 3 Isn’t Confirmed Yet

Fans hoping for news about a third season of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes after the end of Season 2 haven’t received an official announcement yet. However, the anime does hint at future episodes within the final episode itself. It’s unusual that there hasn’t been confirmation of another season, considering My Hero Academia typically announces new episodes before or right after a season finishes. With the English dub of Season 2 being released a few weeks later than usual, we might hear something more once the dub reaches its conclusion.

During the series finale, Koichi hints at what might happen next. He’s applying for jobs and about to enter his final year of college, and he ends his dialogue by saying, “The summer of my senior year… The Crawler’s final season!” This strongly suggests a new season is coming, but it also makes us wonder if the third season will be the end of the anime. That’s unexpected considering how much more story there is in the original manga. However, the creators might choose to shorten the remaining plot or finish it with a movie similar to Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle.
