Okay, so Behaviour Interactive just dropped a new killer into Dead by Daylight – it’s Jason Voorhees! They’re calling him ‘The Slasher’ in the game, and he’s got a whole bunch of unique powers and perks to help him hunt down survivors. They even released a trailer to show him off, which I’ve already checked out – it looks awesome!
Just like in the Friday the 13th films, The Slasher in Dead by Daylight has a power called Omnipresent Evil. This lets him turn invisible and hide his tracks, making it much harder for survivors to find him. Even though he’s stealthier with Omnipresent Evil, The Slasher still needs to watch where he’s going, as survivors can still see his footprints.
The Slasher also has two unique abilities: Impaling Throw and Jump Scare. Impaling Throw lets the killer pick up objects from nearby scrap heaps or hooks and throw them at survivors, hurting them and pushing them back. The Slasher can also pin a survivor by slamming them into something. However, a healthy survivor can only be pinned this way if the killer uses a Hook as the projectile.
The Jump Scare ability activates when The Slasher enters Omnipresent Evil mode. It allows the killer to instantly teleport to Pallets, Breakable Walls, or Vault Locations and immediately break or vault through them. Using Jump Scare also reveals the location of nearby Survivors to the killer.
So, I’m really excited about The Slasher! He comes with three new perks that are seriously cool. First is Hex: Scared to Death – hooking someone can wake up a special totem and then anytime a pallet breaks during a chase, nearby Survivors will scream and get slowed down. It’s pretty awesome for controlling the map. Then there’s Silent Shadow; after I hook a Survivor with this perk equipped, I become undetectable for a little while. But here’s the best part: if all the generators are done? I stay undetectable permanently! Finally, Rampage is also included. It’s gonna be fun messing with people!
In Rampage, the killer earns up to 13 tokens by destroying pallets and certain walls. These tokens are spent when the killer is blinded or stunned, briefly increasing their movement speed.
With Jason Voorhees content now removed, Behaviour Interactive is releasing a new DLC called The Life Road on June 25th. This DLC will introduce Shane Wiigwaas, the game’s first Indigenous survivor. In August, players can expect Chorus of Sin, the first Dead by Daylight chapter created with direct input from the game’s community.
The horror game will receive more updates later this year, including the addition of Art the Clown from the Terrifier films in November. In 2027, the game will expand further with a new chapter inspired by the story-focused partnership between Behaviour Interactive and Supermassive Games, The Casting of Frank Stone.
Dead by Daylight is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch.
