Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Targets 60 FPS on Consoles, PSSR Support Coming in Post-Launch Update

Expression Games has announced that Hell Let Loose: Vietnam will aim for a smooth 60 frames per second on all console versions. According to game director Paul Ruschynsky and technical director Kieran D’Archambaud in a Gaming Bolt interview, PC players will be able to customize the game’s settings to maximize performance based on their computer’s capabilities.

D’Archambaud also discussed specific features for the PC version of Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, such as support for ultrawide and super ultrawide monitors. He didn’t reveal the resolution the game will use on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, though.

The game now includes more options to adjust image reconstruction settings, letting players optimize performance based on their PC’s capabilities. Players with Nvidia graphics cards can use DLSS 4.5 with Frame Generation, while those with AMD cards can utilize TSR for both upscaling and smoothing. Additionally, all PC players can now enable Hardware Lumen for enhanced lighting and shadows using ray tracing effects, as explained by Ruschynsky.

D’Archambaud shared that the studio intends to add PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution to the PS5 Pro, which will improve both the graphics and how smoothly games run. Although it won’t be ready when the console first releases, PS5 Pro owners will receive a free update within a few months to enable this feature.

As soon as we get new, more powerful hardware, we always want to make the most of it,” said D’Archambaud. “We have a lot of advanced graphics options for PC gamers, and before releasing a game, we’re focused on getting those same features working well – and optimized – on each console.

Building on the popular multiplayer game Hell Let Loose, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam moves the action from World War II to the Vietnam War. The new setting features challenging terrain, including dense jungles and deep mountain valleys. Players will battle as either the North Vietnamese Army or the US Armed Forces, experiencing a conflict where each side has unique strengths and weaknesses.

When Hell Let Loose: Vietnam launches, it will include six large maps built to accurately represent real locations from the Vietnam War. Players will choose from 17 different roles, with each team consisting of 50 soldiers. Success will depend on teamwork, as each role is specialized and both sides have unique systems and strategies to overcome each other.

Unlike the U.S. military, which relies on air power such as helicopters, the North Vietnamese Army could use tunnels to move troops secretly and launch surprise attacks.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is slated for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on August 13th.
