Daveigh Chase, Star of The Ring and Lilo & Stitch Dies at Age 35

Daveigh Chase, known for her roles in The Ring (2002) and as the voice of Lilo in Disney’s Lilo & Stitch, has passed away at 35 years old. Sources say she died on Tuesday, June 16th, due to complications from meningitis and a blood infection that caused organ failure.

Daveigh Chase was born on July 24, 1990, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Following her parents’ divorce, she grew up in Albany, Oregon.

Daveigh Chase started her career in Hollywood in 1998 when she was chosen to voice Lilo in Disney’s Lilo & Stitch, and continued in the TV series. She became widely known in 2002, taking a very different role as the frightening psychic character Samara in Gore Verbinski’s remake of The Ring.

Fans of science fiction will remember her as Samantha Darko from the movie Donnie Darko (2001), where she played Jake Gyllenhaal’s younger sister. She consistently worked on projects, often starring in sequels to popular franchises like Beethoven’s 5th, The Ring Two, and S. Darko: A Donnie Darko Tale. She also gained significant recognition for her role as the manipulative Rhonda Volmer in HBO’s acclaimed series, Big Love.

Chase’s boyfriend recently started a GoFundMe campaign to share the challenges the actress was facing privately, including a worsening of her health.

My girlfriend, Daveigh Chase, has always brought joy to my life. While many remember her as a gifted young actress from films like ‘Lilo & Stitch,’ ‘Spirited Away,’ and ‘Donnie Darko,’ she’s been battling serious health issues. She was diagnosed with meningitis and severe blood infections, and her condition is now critical. Doctors have told me she doesn’t have much time left. All Daveigh has ever wanted is a safe and happy home to share, and I want to give her that peace and comfort now, in her final days.

RIP to Daveigh Chase, and condolences to her friends, family, and many fans.
