Whenever Street Fighter 6 adds a new character, it’s definitely something to check out! Here’s a first glimpse of Yasmine, a fast and exciting fighter representing the Philippines.
This fighter’s style is based on Eskrima, the national martial art of the Philippines. She appears to focus on quick, powerful attacks at close range, and will likely be a very challenging opponent.
The story centers on a woman trying to find her missing brother. Skilled in the martial art of Eskrima, which she learned from her grandfather, she uses her training to uncover the truth about his disappearance.
Yasmine excels at close-range combat and benefits from playing aggressively. Her special ability, Bayani Mode, significantly boosts her power when she’s actively attacking, encouraging players to stay on the offensive and constantly engage their opponents.
The trailer briefly shows her second outfit, which takes inspiration from traditional Filipino school uniforms. We likely won’t see her third outfit until later in the season.
Yasmine is the first of several new characters arriving in Street Fighter 6 on August 3rd, with Arjun, Tifa, and Bosch following soon after. You can pre-order them now! Just a heads-up: these characters won’t include any new story content for the World Tour mode.
I’m a little worried I might not be able to quickly learn Yasmine’s quick and energetic fighting style, but she seems really enjoyable to play, and I can’t wait to try her out.
I especially loved seeing her hairstyle change on the victory screen in the trailer. It’s a small detail that gives the character a lot of personality, and it’s exactly the kind of thing you’d hope for in Street Fighter 6.
