Back in June, a glimpse into the highly anticipated game titled “Invincible VS” was unveiled. The debut trailer showcased the brutal violence that fans have grown accustomed to from the Robert Kirkman-written series. This initial peek was promising, but it seems like just a small taste of what’s to come. In a recent conversation with Chris Killian from ComicBook, Kirkman offered some insights into the game’s current progress. It appears that members of the “Invincible” comic’s creative team have already invested considerable time in the game, and players should brace themselves for an excessive amount of gore throughout.
Kirkman: “It’s such a blast! Corey Walker, Ryan Ottley, and I are constantly adapting to the new builds as they arrive. I believe they’re updating it weekly now, which means there are always fresh surprises… like ‘wow, they’ve included this feature,’ or ‘look at this development,’ or ‘now we can play with this character.’ It just keeps getting more exciting each week.
ComicBook: “Gore level?”
Kirkman is stating that what people are currently viewing is incredibly gruesome, but he notes that any earlier footage they’re displaying has been improved and upgraded. He finds this improvement quite impressive and believes it’s only getting better over time.
It’s clear that the game Invincible VS draws heavily from its animated series, as evidenced by several original voice actors returning, including Steven Yeun and JK Simmons. Given the show’s graphic nature, it’s no surprise that the game will maintain this intensity. Fortunately, there are no plans to soften the content. The fanbase of Invincible has been growing steadily in recent years, and it’s exciting to see a game based on the franchise that offers more than just characters appearing in games like Mortal Kombat 1 and Fortnite.
Currently, there’s no confirmed release date for the game “Invincible VS“, but it’s anticipated to come out in 2026. This could mean a wait is ahead before we can enjoy it ourselves. However, Robert Kirkman’s remarks hint that development is moving along smoothly. In the meantime, fans eager for updates can only hope for more information about the game closer to its launch. Fingers crossed we’ll learn about additional playable characters besides the eight already announced. Given the 3-vs-3 gameplay format, it seems likely that more characters will be unveiled in the coming months. So far, “Invincible VS” has been confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. You can add it to your wishlist on all these platforms at the moment.
