Guilty Gear Strive has now surpassed 3.5 million players since its launch in 2021.
Considering the highly specialized and narrow origins of the series, such an impressive number is truly remarkable. In fact, Strive has become a tremendous triumph for Arc System Works, exceeding their original, ambitious predictions.
Two years ago to this day, I was thrilled to be part of the incredible community that had grown to 2.5 million players for Strive. Clearly, it has continued to thrive and grow since then. The recent release of the Nintendo Switch port undeniably added fuel to its success.
Certainly, despite facing challenges in convincing some long-time Guilty Gear enthusiasts, it’s undeniable that Strive has resonated with a broader player base. The competitive community continues to thrive as the game approaches its fifth year in the market.
Indeed, it has been verified that the developer will maintain support for Strive through the year 2026. Furthermore, version 2.00 is planned to be released next year, accompanied by even more new characters.
Nonetheless, we remain curious about the path that Guilty Gear will follow in the future. With its predecessor setting high standards, the upcoming game certainly has a lot to live up to. It’s intriguing to speculate on the creative directions it might explore.
