There’s something about Ella Stiller following in her parents’ footsteps.
Surely, it’s worth noting that the 23-year-old offspring of Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor graced our screens on the July 31st episode of “And Just Like That”, portraying Mia – the expectant partner of Niall Cunningham’s character Brady Hobbes.
Stepping into the vibrant world of “Sex and the City” over two decades since my esteemed paternal grandmother, Anne Meara, graced our screens as Mary in the fifth season, I’m now following in the family footsteps. As a proud granddaughter of Jerry Stiller and sister to Quinlin Stiller, it’s heartening to see the legacy continue in the acting realm. And with my brother and I, at 20 years old, readying ourselves for our debut, my father is thrilled to embrace this new chapter together on set.
Ben, who is 59 years old, shared with TopMob News in November that his children, who are no longer kids, are both actors. He expressed that it would be enjoyable to collaborate with them since they’re very talented. While he has worked on a few small projects with them, he eagerly looks forward to the opportunity and finds it exciting.
Besides this, the producer of Severance hopes to appear in their future productions. He stated, “I believe someday they’ll likely be directing and producing projects where I’ll be seeking a role from them.” In other words, that’s typically how it works.
Over time, the Stiller family has consistently regarded cinema as a shared bond. They have graced numerous red carpets together and have never shied away from expressing admiration for one another.
Ella expressed her pride to TopMob News about her father’s Apple TV+ drama at the 2022 Emmys, stating it was her favorite show and she couldn’t get enough of it.
As a lifestyle advisor, I’m always keen on sharing personal anecdotes that resonate with my audience. Ben and Christine, both in their mid-50s, have been transparent about their remarkable journey of reconnection during the COVID-19 quarantine, over three years since their separation in 2017.
During our time apart, it provided me with the opportunity to understand what our relationship meant, how life felt without us being in each other’s lives, and just how deeply I cherished our family bond,” Ben explained to the New York Times in January 2023. “It was as if we had been separated for three or four years, yet we remained connected on some level. In my heart, I never stopped wanting us to be together.

Ben Stiller and his wife Christine Taylor have been married since 2000. They separated in 2017 but didn’t file for divorce. During the pandemic, they chose to quarantine together with their children Ella and Quinlin. After this shared experience, they decided to reconcile permanently.
For many years, Ella frequently attended events with her father Ben, such as when she tagged along with dad at the premiere of the short film “Let Liv” at the June 2023 Tribeca Film Festival, where her mother Christine stars. On this occasion, they all dressed in stylish black outfits.
Previously, Ella has been Ben’s guest at events like the 2022 Emmys, the 2018 premiere of “Free Solo“, the 2017 premiere of “The Meyerowitz Stories“, and the opening night of the Broadway musical “Groundhog Day“.
In 2019, Ella accompanied Ben to the Golden Globes, where they went to support the Showtime miniseries “Escape to Dannemora“, for which Ben received a nomination for Outstanding Directing.
Ben spoke candidly about his collaboration with Ella on the set of Escape to Dannemora, expressing that he felt “extremely proud” of her to TopMob. In his own words, he said, “I was overjoyed that things turned out well between us. She demonstrated a great deal of respect, which I valued because when you have a teenage daughter, you want to act differently than at home, like ‘Don’t mimic our behavior! Let’s pretend we get along!’ It was truly a fantastic and positive experience for both of us.
Besides her minor part in “Escape to Dannemora”, Ella has also featured in “Hubie Halloween” and “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb”. As Ben shared with TopMob in 2019, Ella appears to have a passion for pursuing an acting career. Christine also talked about Ella’s choice, telling “Us Weekly” in 2018 that she never dissuaded her from walking the same path as her parents.
“She emerged from the womb with a purpose,” the alum of “The Brady Bunch Movie” explained, “and I was never going to stand in her way. She is a determined and willful young woman, and she adores it. Clearly, she was destined for this world, but I didn’t push her into it. Rather, living in New York City, she has been exposed to numerous amazing things and shows, and so … she has caught the acting bug. There’s no stopping it, but I didn’t foster it.
In a candid conversation with Esquire, Ben acknowledged that Ella expressed feelings about his absence during her childhood due to his career commitments. He admitted it was tough to hear, but also emphasized the importance of acknowledging her perspective. Although it wasn’t pleasant for him to realize this shortcoming, he noted that his primary focus should have been on being emotionally present and supportive for Ella and her brother Quinlin, rather than chasing career success. In essence, what he conveyed was that his children didn’t care about his career achievements; they yearned for a father who was emotionally available and supportive of them.
During an interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Ben confessed that Ella had converted him into a die-hard Taylor Swift fan by making him listen to her music while teaching her how to drive. He admitted that he was already a fan, but now considers himself a full-blown “Swiftie.” Taylor’s tunes helped calm both of them down during their driving lessons. As time went on, they delved into her more recent works such as Folklore and Evermore. They found that songs like ‘Cardigan,’ ‘Betty,’ and ‘August’ each told the same love triangle from different perspectives, with the characters named after Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s children. Ben also mentioned his fascination with Taylor’s extended 10-minute version of ‘All Too Well’ from her vault.
Following the filming of “Tropic Thunder” with Ben in 2007, Christine opted to step away from acting to devote herself to raising their children. During an interview on “The Morning Call” in 2010, she explained, “It didn’t feel like a difficult choice for me. When Ella was born, my entire perspective changed. I couldn’t comprehend the depth of love I felt for this tiny being. I yearned to be involved in every moment. I didn’t want to miss out on anything, and with Ben working so much, I felt it was crucial for one of us to provide a sense of consistency within our family.” Ben expressed his gratitude for her decision in an interview with “Parade” in 2016, stating that he felt “extremely fortunate” for her choice.
Ben and I have embraced a vegetarian lifestyle over a decade ago, and we aim to instill the same choices in our children. In 2012, Christine shared with People magazine that our morning green drinks often leave them puzzled. She humorously encouraged them, “Just come join the party! Don’t complain so much, just join us.”
The actress from Search Party continued to discuss Ella and Quinlin’s individual preferences, saying, “Ella adores vegetables but isn’t fond of fruit. Conversely, Quinlin prefers fruit over vegetables.”
However, Christine remained optimistic, explaining, “It’s like that phase where your parents aren’t ‘cool’ for a while, and then suddenly they are. We just keep planting the seeds of healthy eating.
Ella frequently accompanies her parents to public events, but Quinlin seldom attends such occasions. However, an exception was made in 2018 when he joined his family at the Project A.L.S. Benefit. At that time, Christine shared with Us Weekly that it was Quinlin’s first event and he seemed to be enjoying himself. The previous year, their daughter had attended the event for the first time and encouraged Quinlin to join this year. Furthermore, the extended family they have known for about 20 years was there, watching their children grow up together.
In 2018, Christine (who is on the board of directors for the organization) expressed to Us Weekly that Quinlin, Ben, and she had attended the Project ALS 25th Anniversary Gala in 2023. Furthermore, they have taken the time to share their passions with their children by enlightening them about the causes they care deeply about.
