Filming for the second season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has been paused due to severe weather and flooding.
The new Game of Thrones spin-off, which was a huge success when it first aired this year, is now being filmed for its second season in Gran Canaria.
As a huge fan of the show, I was really disappointed to hear they had to stop filming. Apparently, Storm Therese brought some seriously bad weather to the island where they were shooting – lots of flooding and heavy rain – and it just made it impossible to continue.
HBO has confirmed that the storm has resulted in weather delays to the show’s production.

For the second season, called ‘The Sworn Sword,’ filming shifted from Belfast to Spain. This move, somewhat surprisingly, was made to accurately reflect the original story and show a drought.
In a recent interview with TopMob, the showrunner Ira Parker explained that the second season is set during a drought. He jokingly pointed out the irony of trying to film scenes depicting a drought in Belfast, Northern Ireland, since it rains there almost every day.
“So we’re going elsewhere to seek ‘unrainings’.”
Based on George R.R. Martin’s ‘Dunk and Egg’ stories, ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ follows Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey), a rising knight, and his young apprentice, Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell), as they travel across Westeros.
These characters, who may not seem important at first, eventually become key figures in the history of Westeros.
Okay, so in the first season, they really blew my mind! It turns out ‘Egg,’ the character we get to know, is actually Aegon Targaryen – one of Prince Maekar Targaryen’s sons, and part of the royal family. I definitely didn’t see that twist coming, especially since it’s all based on the first novella, ‘The Hedge Knight.’
Dunk and Egg met unexpectedly at an inn while traveling to a tournament in Ashford Meadow, and their chance encounter set in motion a series of events that would ultimately shape the future of Westeros.
The show’s first season had six episodes, each lasting thirty minutes. The second season is expected to come out in early 2027.
It is currently unclear how the flooding will impact the season’s planned release date.
