A 4K Blu-ray version of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is coming out soon. While this is exciting news, many fans are actually most eager to own the recent Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba movie. The film has been a huge success, becoming one of the highest-grossing anime and overall films of the year in Japan and around the world. As it becomes available in more countries, fans are looking forward to watching it at home.
Good news for fans of Demon Slayer! While Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle was a big hit this year, it didn’t perform as well as the franchise’s first movie, Mugen Train. Mugen Train remains the highest-grossing film in Japanese box office history and is still one of the most successful anime movies ever released in the US. What makes its success even more remarkable is that it came out during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic when many people were hesitant to go to theaters.
I was so excited when Mugen Train came out! It followed right after the first season of Demon Slayer, and honestly, it really took the series to the next level. The anime already had a dedicated fanbase, but Episode 19 went absolutely viral – that’s when everyone started talking about it! Mugen Train built on that momentum and now we’re getting a whole trilogy of films to wrap up the story – and they’re all going to be huge theatrical events, which is amazing!
What’s Next for Demon Slayer?

The new movie, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, will only be shown in theaters for the remainder of the year. This means you won’t be able to buy or stream it at home until sometime next year. Unfortunately, even a 4K Blu-ray version will take a while, so fans will need to be patient for any home viewing options, including future streaming releases.
This movie is the first of three planned films based on the ‘Infinity Castle’ story arc from the original manga. While there’s a lot to look forward to, release dates for the next two films haven’t been announced yet, so fans may have a significant wait ahead of them.
